Dear Spike,

Hello. It’s me, Twilight Sparkle. I know it’s a bit unconventional for me to do this, but I felt that this would be more fitting. It’s come to my attention lately that you have been working quite a bit more than I have really noticed. I must say that you have done more than your fair share of work and I am really proud of you. And for that, I sincerely thank you.

In fact, that’s one reason why I want to write this letter. I honestly feel like you don’t get enough respect for all the work you do for everypony in the library and around Ponyville. I know first hoof that you are a fantastic assistant to me, but I have seen over our time in this new town that you are more than just my dragon assistant. You are a wonderful family member and friend. While the girls and I go off on all our bizarre and mind-boggling adventures, you stay home. No matter what happens on our ventures, it is just very refreshing and great to know that you are there waiting for our return, ready to welcome us back.

Plain and simple, Spike, I want to let you know how grateful I am to you. I appreciate all the hard work and kindness you put into making everyday wonderful. Not just for me, but for everypony. It was actually the girls who suggested in writing these letters to you to show our thanks and I felt they were completely right about the small gesture of gratitude.

So, thank you, Spike. For everything. You are truly an angel.

just got done reading the letters and you weren't kidding when you said they were short.
I enjoyed the letters even though my mind keep on thinking these were written for spike when he wakes up from his century long nap and everyone he has ever known (short of gods, goddess, i.e. immortals) has passed away
yeah as I type this my feels are starting to go out of control

Ok, so I must admit, I was skeptical about a few letters telling a significant story. Boy, was I wrong. Each letter was true to the mannerisms of it's character, and it was fun to imagine the characters reading the letters aloud. All in all, well written and fun to read, and a really great idea, using letters to tell a story.

Spike has a heart of gold, and that's exactly why we all love him so much! This story was really sweet and cute. I hope you'll write a reaction piece for Spike. Feels all around! This story just oozes heartwarming. :)

I slightly feel like crying. Honestly, I indentify with Spike over any other character. So, to me, this was the sweetest of all of the letters. Thank you.
