Set after Equestria Girls 3 (Spoilers ahead)

After the events of the Friendship Games, Sunset Shimmer and her new friend, Twilight Sparkle try to move on, but the pestering questions remained. What did Sunset turn into? Is Twilight safe from a demonic relapse? How did time loops keep Princess Twilight from responding?

With all three under one roof, the two Equestrians try to get to the bottom of this little mystery. Will they get at least a few answers?

Meanwhile, a new human has set their sights on Canterlot High

On her deathbed, Sunset Shimmer looks back on her accomplishments, and realizes how she will be remembered.

A few hours after saving the Friendship Games, Sunset Shimmer and her good friend Twilight Sparkle are relaxing on the CHS lawn. The two are so close that Sunset finally feels like she can ask a question that's been on her mind for a while.

"Can I go home?"

When a girl named Harmony comes to Canterlot High, she meets six girls. Harmony can't help but feel something magical about the girls, and the school. When a musical showcase is announced, Harmony is very excited. She soon finds the whole school fighting around her after a song was sung in the cafeteria.
The three girls known as the Dazzlings, notice that seven specific girls are not under their spell, but can't help but notice that a the beautiful turquoise eyed girl is also not under their spell.

Since The Friendship Games, Sunset and Twilight now have something in common: Magical transformations, an experience unlike any other that they both endured. Twilight now feels inclined to share her feelings about the matter. Though the circumstances were different and their reasons even more so, they can agree on one thing....

Shortly after the Dazzlings witnessed the Rainbooms' argument with Sunset Shimmer, they concocted a plan that would surely put Canterlot High at huge risk and inched them closer to achieving their goal: making Sunset one of them.

Sunset was never friends with any of them; it was all a big hoax.

It took some time, but they finally figured her out.

Sonata couldn't believe it. She wasn't smiling, she wasn't happy, and was clearly shattered. She could only think of one solution: Jump. Finish the job. Besides, who would care that she's dead? Nobody liked her anyways... except the ones that cared.

After their original dinner was ruined by Sonata, the Rainbooms, the Dazzlings and Flash Sentry decided to eat out at a Mexican restaurant called Sombra’s Taco Ranch. While dinning, Sonata accidentally switched the signs and ended up in the freezer instead of the bathroom. She couldn't leave because the freezer door was broken and can only be opened from the outside! To make matters worse, Sonata’s mistake leads everyone in a restaurant trapped in the freezer with her.

Immediately after her banishment, Sunset Shimmer is alone in a strange bipedal world, with no money and no home. A chance meeting gives her an unexpected opportunity, but she must take a great risk to seize that opportunity.
