Echo is a high ranking changeling officer. The Canterlot invasion was going perfectly, and her battalion had personally defeated the Elements of Harmony. Suddenly, she finds herself far flung from Canterlot, crashing into the Everfree forest. Now she is faced with a difficult reality - her hive, the only family she's ever known, no longer exists, and she must adapt to life as a pony. What she finds out about herself, though, will surprise her.

Rated Teen for occasional suggestiveness and language, tagged gore for brief violence, particularly in later chapters.

Dark because later chapters get pretty ... well, dark.

Addendum 5/29/2018

This story is now, as of this addendum, five years old. It is getting more attention as I put out new chapters on the sequel.

I recognize that this story has problems, and that some of them by their nature carry over to the sequel; please remember that when I started writing this, I was not yet even old enough to legally drink in the US. A lot has happened and a lot has changed, and there are many things about this story I regret including, but which it is now too late to change. Some of those things I have simply done my best to ignore and make irrelevant, but some of them are errors from a 19 year old me that will haunt me until the sequel is finished.

In short, please be gentle.

When the Royal Wedding scatters defeated changelings all over Equestria, a member of the hive winds up being captured in Ponyville, tied up, stunned, repeatedly shot by a cannon, and held against his will.

The truly frightening part is he’s starting to like it.

In this volume, Echo has settled in to her life in Ponyville and has just begun to become accustomed to the strange ways in which ponies behave. While their social norms may be confounding to her, she is satisfied with her life. That is, until Scootaloo comes home from school one day shaken, and Echo finds that not everypony in Ponyville is as understanding and accepting of who she is as she thought they were. What has caused the normally kind ponies in this town to become so suddenly xenophobic?

Twilight Sparkle gets the chance of researching and questioning the first live specimen of a changeling since the Canterlot invasion three years ago.
Twilight goes in with a scientific mind and wants to figure out everything about these evil bugs, as clearly they have shown themselves to be nothing but cruel in the past. However, in an attempt to find a cruel primitive being, she instead finds something she did not expect.

This story is something I made out of a combination of my own headcanon for changelings, and with my frustration, yet love, for philosophy, which I study at writing moment at university. This story will have slow updates, but I will work on it. This is as much a work for me, as it is for you.

Doppel Ganger is an outlaw changeling who has been living in the Everfree Forest for more than a year. Far from all the ruckus his Queen caused with the invasion, he spends a quiet life stealing love from Ponyvillians with his two friends, Camouflage and Mimic. But an encounter with a manticore will give him the worst thing he could catch, a cold.

This seemingly mild illness has terrible effects on changeling's physiology. At each sneeze, the changeling will either lose his disguise, or get a new one without any control over it. Now, it's harder to feed on ponies’ love unnoticed.

Doppel will have to feed on love in Ponyville during the duration of his sickness.

As I looked out over the field of clouds, I saw them... I saw them all... they were falling... and there was nothing I could do to save them... for they were already dead...

A few years after the dramatic failure of the capturing of Canterlot, the changeling colony has been dwindling to near extinction and are expected to go extinct in a few weeks. But after a life threatening raid on the colony, a Changeling gets a once in a hundred life times chance to survive.

Will he be able to fall in love and live undetected through pony society?

Or will he be falling to his death and sent to the gallows?

With the likely possibility that their hive now tries to select its new leader in a vicious battle, the trio of drones decide to stay away from home for a while. They plan to return when they have a higher chance of survival in their own home, than in Equestria, where they are surrounded by enemies. But for now the changelings’ chance to stay alive lies in a quiet little village near the great city of Canterlot.
