Second one on the second day WITH cover art I made. Damn, I can't stop all the pent up fanfiction man. :twilightblush:

But yeah, this is a concept for Sunset Shimmer I wanted to explore and as far as I know I haven't quite seen it broached in this way here. It can open up to bigger things maybe but for now I'mma just leave this here and I hope y'all enjoy my second fanfiction ever made and I hope it's up to snuff after my first one.

This story is a sequel to Sitting on a Rock

The Pie family always had strong bonds with one another. But, a past event continues to hang over some members of the family. They don't speak about it, preferring to let it be buried and forgotten, despite the drastic changes it brought about. For two of them, it brought about isolation. An isolation that Limestone prefers her family stay in.

Well, except for Pinkie. But she's...unique.

For Limestone, those events kindled the desire to keep her family safe from outsiders. Something a certain silver haired magician has started making difficult for her.

Old wounds will be reopened on all sides as Limestone tries to keep the past from repeating.

Edited and story bounced off of the illustrious Crowscrowcrow.

Alone and afraid, Sunset Shimmer has been living off of the streets in Canterlot ever since she ran away from home. She is barely holding on as it is and winter is coming soon, and Sunset doesn't know how she's going to survive this one. On a particularly cold night, she's out searching for something to eat when she bumps into the last pony she expects to see walking through the slums: Princess Celestia.

Every year, snow or shine, Burnt Oak climbs the same hill at the same time of winter to light a campfire. Sometimes, he sings; sometimes, he talks to the breeze; always, he remembers the friend no longer at his side. And it's a nice, peaceful time of remembrance, one which the ponies around him know better than to interrupt.

Except, one winter, for an unexpected arrival - and for almost anypony else, Burnt Oak wouldn't have given them the time of day.

But he couldn't refuse his friend's daughter, could he?

A story written for Jinglemas, as my (first) gift to the lovely Akataja. They didn't get a story last year, and I figured that it was on my shoulders to try and make things right again.
