Twilight Sparkle has finally perfected a device allowing ponies to speak to each other over great distances. Unfortunately, the first call she receives is from Pinkie. Things go downhill from there.

Rainbow Dash, curious as to why every guard looks alike, finds out the hard way what happens when you mess with a government. What she finds out, though, will change Equestria forever...

When Spike drags Twilight out to Sugarcube Corner for something he claims is "hilarious​", she discovers that she is the main character of a romance novel... along with Princess Celestia.

Twilight is not happy about this.

“All right… so an evil unicorn has escaped and is out for revenge… Bad news I am certain. But why tell us? What is special about us?”

Luna frowned. “When she got loose… I can only imagine she was pretty mad, I know I was… The first thing she would have done was to go to the castle… to challenge Celestia.”

“Again, why tell us this, why not the holders of the elements?”

“Because the holders of the elements were already there… Celestia had invited them to teach them more about their powers.”
Another powerful silence followed this. Vinyl spoke up.

“So… where exactly are Princess Celestia and the holders of the elements now?”

Luna gulped but dragged out her chart. “When I raised the moon tonight I too got a similar vision that you all had… I also noticed something different with the sky. A bunch of new stars that hadn’t been there before.”

Luna rolled out the chart, not speaking as everyone looked at the familiar cutie marks.

“That cold in your visions? That would be them… calling out.”

Applejack expected a lot, when she got an invitation from Cherilee to talk about Applebloom.

This story is written such that one does not need to have read Rites of Ascension beforehand to understand and enjoy it. However, one should know a few quick, easy things going in. First, Season Three and later do not exist in the Rites timeline, and second, Cadence is a winged unicorn rather than alicorn. Also, I'm aware the comics tackled this topic, but this is in my own AU, and I first wrote this more than a year ago. Consider this an alternate take on the idea. Other than that, you should be able to dive in with no problems.

That having being said, as this is a canon story in the Rites of Ascension Expanded Universe, reading the main story will make this one even more enjoyable.

But when Rainbow Dash brags about what she and Rarity did on their second date, it kicks off a day of questions for both couples. What do good ponies do when, and why?
