It has been one year since Starlight Glimmer graduated and ventured out on her own to teach others the friendship lessons she learned as Princess Twilight's personal student. Now, unexpectedly, she's coming back to Ponyville for a visit, and everypony is excited about it. Well, everypony that is, except Spike. But why?

What Spike saw in the doorway of King Sombra's crystal palace hasn't left his mind. The fear of Twilight abandoning him haunts him through recurrent nightmares. Anxiety taunts him when he's at his most vulnerable, reminding him of all his failures, all his inadequacies, all his wounds.

One night, this fear and anxiety manifests itself in a full-blown nightmare, dragging Spike face-to-face with his greatest fear. What if Twilight never needed Spike in the first place?

Takes place right after the Season Three opener (before Episode Three).

It's been 12 years since the Crystalling and much has changed. Flurry Heart is now a alicorn filly and while her parents and Twilight along with Dragon Lord Ember are away she's left in the care of uncle Spike who is now a gigantic gentle dragon while all is wonderful an old enemy shows his face and Spike must protect Flurry Heart from it.

One day, Spike went with Twilight and Cadance to a valley near the Crystal Empire where they found an unexplored cavern. In there, Spike found some crystals that caused his personality to split up into a lot of copies of himself, and they ended up running free in the valley, now Twilight and Cadence must find them all before the original Spike disappears...

Not really proud of the writing here, but I did the best I could.
Someone already got the reference in the comments, so it's from the show 'Wander Over Yonder', but I changed some things in this fic so it's not exactly the same.
Still need to work on the grammar, orthography and pacing, ESPECIALLY the pacing.

This story is a sequel to The Hardest Goodbye

After deciding to run away to the Badlands in order to try and find his destiny, Spike encounters the old villain, Nightmare Moon. After an unsuccessful attempt to posses him, Nightmare Moon is now stuck in his head.

Spike, number one assistant to Princess Twilight Sparkle, close contacts to the Elements of Harmony Bearers and to the other Princesses. He is even praised by the Crystal Ponies for saving their empire! He must have a great life right? If so, then why does he feel so left out? So he sets out, only to be faced with an extra passenger.
