A neat bit of creepy. Reminds me a bit of the idea of "anxiety is just conspiracy theories about yourself" though, there's a bit more to this than just that.

The kind of shit Spike went through could realistically give anyone PTSD or something like that. That goes for Twilight and her friends too, regarding that moment and probably others, with the shit the three of them put them through.

Spike isn't the most reliable narrator here, but it's worth noting that Chrysalis quite possibly had plans for having torture dolls after they were all dead (Starlight, Celestia, and Luna were in the same place upon recapture). The infinitesimally small amount of "mercy" involved in throwing you towards your friends and family before trying to murder you anyway probably doesn't matter much, in the end... or does it?
