It's a quiet afternoon in Canterlot. Celestia is taking a break from her princessly duties, drinking some tea as it is wont of her to do. And as she sometimes likes to do, when she's relaxing, she's watching the Sun. When you're one of the few who can stare directly at it without hurting your eyes, you might as well take advantage of it every once in a while.

Chrysalis is beaten. Her invasion of Canterlot has failed. Her hive has been scattered to the winds. And with Equestria on guard, love is in short supply. She has failed her people, and now the future looks bleak and grim.

A rewrite of an old fic I wrote back in 2015. Wrote a whole new ending that ties in with the new version of Luna's Coffee.

Princess Celestia has been keeping a dark secret from her subjects for a very long time.

It's not an easy truth to tell, but if anyone can accept her after learning it, it will surely be her most faithful student.

It is the largest, most luxurious cruise ship anypony had ever seen. It cost more than 100 million bits to create, and its maiden voyage is the most talked-about bit of news in Equestria. And nopony would think twice to say it could ever be sunk.

Twilight Sparkle has received 6 tickets for the Titanic's maiden voyage, and all of her friends are more than excited to go. Leaving a moping Spike behind, Twilight and her friends board the enormous cruise ship, anticipating a luxuriously grand vacation. But, of course, you all know how this ends.

Trixie Lulamoon. Top-billing movie and stage star, illusionist, triple-threat-diva. Adults love her candor and presence, and teens idolize her. Kids? Well, she’s nice when she’s doing tricks at least. She’s candid with everything about her, offering nothing to be used against her. Expect for one interview question…

All things have a beginning.

Even for one such as Chrysalis, Queen of the Changelings.

She lost her bid for Equestria. The changeling was found lying in a crater miles from where she had been flung. It was a miracle she had survived. Her army was shattered. So far as the Equestrians knew, Chrysalis was the only survivor.

But her hive survives and has gone to hiding as another queen seeks to find it.

If Equestria thought Chrysalis was a monster, wait until they meet Queen Taalia...

In the meantime, Atalanta has given Queen Chrysalis a renewed sense of purpose. Hatched in captivity, she is the whole world to her doting mother.

She writes the story of her life for her daughter, who could very well be the last of the changelings once Chrysalis is gone...and who this Queen Taalia is.
