Goldfur

I'm a science-fiction and fantasy buff, creator of the Chakat Universe, and now dabbling in the MLP:FiM universe. I love a good story!

This story is a sequel to Mark My Words

When the Triarchy of Princess Trixie, Princess Twilight, and Prince Mark took over from the missing Royal Sisters, they made many changes. Most were for Equestria as a whole, but some were in Canterlot Castle itself. Under their more informal manner of ruling, unusual characters and events livened up the Royal Castle behind the scenes for the most part. These are vignettes of some of those people and their effect on those around them.

Promising new story : ) I like these different perspectives!

Interested slice of life from another perspective.
Also I see maids in a new light now, I can see why some stories have them as secret service agents and anti assasination agents.

Great chapter!

Ha-ha! Clever fake out! They played the nobels excellent in every aspect!

Diamond Doggo makes best music :yay:

Conversation continued among the guests for a while as the serving staff saw to their desires. The diamond dog especially was kept busy after the nobles witnessed him serving the Baroness and her husband. He possessed an expansive knowledge of the different wines available, much to the surprise of most. They guessed that was why he had gotten the job.

Oh, I can see where this is going :trollestia:

Travertine turned away before pausing and facing the crowd once more. “And some of you have poor taste in wines. Listen to your wine waiter in the future.” He then faced Trixie with a grin. She smirked and nodded before whisking them both away.

:trollestia:

Thanks fir brightening my day like that. It makes the monotony of work far more bearable, and managed to put a smile on my face for the first time in quite a while.

Beware a cook in his kitchen (whether he is or not) ...

Was reading another series, but 'aight, I'll take the detour Goldfur offers.

I kind of want to them do a Tyberos thing with a maid in this story.

Imagine a pony with the bulk of Snowflake, built like Mac, and the size of a Saddle Arabian in a coat and mane of purple.

Now imagine them in a maid outfit.

"Umm... your highness..."

"Yes?"

"This other stallion..."

"What other stallion, there is no other stallion in out maid retinue, is there honey?"

"No my love, not a one!"

Chrysalis frowned as she looked next to the spot next to Trixie, where stood at attention a monolith of a pony, face twitching in what was most definintely barely controlled rage.

"What are you two on about, the servant is right..."

Suddenly, Chrysal lurched as she realized that in the single instant she blinked, the stallion was gone, and next to her, placing a cruller and tea before. Leaning close, he snorted a blast of hot air from his nostril, rustling the changelings queens mane, a involuntary shiver of primal terror rustling up her spine.

"Silly me, you know these old eyes, theres no stallion here!"

"Quite right your majesties, my mistake!"

Travertine turned away before pausing and facing the crowd once more. “And some of you have poor taste in wines. Listen to your wine waiter in the future.” He then faced Trixie with a grin. She smirked and nodded before whisking them both away.

Never makes assumptions boys and girls

First thing that crossed my mind was Kamen no Maid Guy.

Monolith the mightiest of maid did with due diligence attend all manner of dust bunny, unpolished serving tray, and unaware ninja with a silent terrifying vigour one never sees, and would be terrified to see. To him, the greatest virtue of a servant in service of Royalty was to be unseen. And in time, as Graceful ascended to his dreams as head maid, would show himself a true ally to the departing head in ways no one could imagine.

......................

"We're sorry Prim, but you missed the last few check stubs, and we are simply unable to pay out you're retirement stipend."

"But sir, I don't understand. I've served their Majesty for over a hundred winters. I've earned my pension."

"And as we said, no addendum stamp on the last stubs, no pension. Now, I must ask you to leave or I... shall... call..."

The rest of the office colts words stuttered to a stop as the ponies eyes widened at what loomed over the ancient dam before him. As the enormous brute gently laid a hoof upon the sniffling and look to soon be bawling mares head, the stallion leaned forward, ears flattening to his skull and lips bared in a snarl as stormy grey eyes threatened to set the quill jockey before them ablaze.

"Citizen Prim will be receiving her pension."

As the desk stallion nodded, and desperately began stamping addendum, Prim smiled gently, and patted a hoof.

"Thank you dear."

................

Such was the life of the true Guards of Canterlots palace. And only in death would service end.

You would think a diamond dog would be into rock music.

:rainbowlaugh: :rainbowlaugh: :twilightblush: :moustache:

this reminded me of a picture i found on DeviantArt, of a Changeling in a maid outfit:

A classical music composing Diamond Dog is asked if they have any rock music?

Certainly sir, it will be just before a quarter past 6. :trixieshiftright:

This was a thoughtful chapter Goldy. If those who weren't raised into extremism with their beliefs or prejudice, they would see an individual that was looking for a peticuliar jog and had the skills and determination to achieve it. Without the pride or fear to do the job withing the requirements presented and pulled it off very well.

I'm pretty sure "Ain't Nothing but a Hound Dog" would seem to be a bit racist to Diamond Dogs. And there is nothing more cultural than music all around the world!

I don;t care what or who you are, so long as you do your job.

Wowsers... one impressive chef!

Will two days be enough time for a full Zebrican dinner? Hope there's enough space for intervening meal preps!

Once Earth-Equestria visits become more common...
Chef Apicus: Timed cooking competitions? A novel idea. Which one should I apply for?
Mark: Well, the only one you cannot is Masterchef, as that one doesn't allow those that work as chefs, except for the occasional season where they bring back former contestants. I think you should apply to the various ones on Food Network. And maybe I'll ask Smolder into seeing if maybe they'd be open to doing Equestria based episodes of their shows. It could be fun to see how Supermarket Stakeout or Guy's Grocery Games would translate to being done at the market in Ponyville.

Secrets held so tightly they had to be dragged from their cold dead hooves secured intheir fortified and entrapped mausoleums.

And what do you call this fantasy of delectableness?

That be a butty.:trollestia:

He's a shoo-in for Iron Chef.

I'm tickled by the concept of 'greenmasons'.

I wouldn't mind doing some training under this guy, so long as I can get a low-level hearing protection charm put in place 😉

Certainly beats my current job.

I can see some awesome cooking competitions in the future...

Using the best of the best, but how about using what is at hand or what is left after the ingridients are stripped of their primal parts.

Was thinking more Food Wars for an anime reference.

As Pinkie knows well, Roses are related to Apples.

I wonder what sort of Major Rose he will leave Celestia with? :pinkiesad2:

This just reminded me of an old nugget about being a Warrior in the garden.

I cannot remember whether or not it was previously established that Gilda became a princess in this universe. Always nice to see, in any case.

This was a magnificent story, beautifully done life story.

A well earned Twilight for a great individual.

Very wholesome.

These shorts in your setting are a pleasant experience

Who says he isn't into Rock music as well just because they write one or play one type of music nothing says they can't cross genres

Such interesting charecters maybe someday the chef will learn while being able to cook a magnificent feast is wonderful there is still something to be said for a simple meal well done

Interesting comparison of roses to go along with an interesting gardener. I can well imagine Gilda not mincing words also remember Gilda wasn't always royalty while she might change and mature much like Mark over the years I think the griffons will respect a rougher sort of royalty than ponies and others with long history of royalty
