Developing romantic feelings for a friend is awkward.
It's extra awkward when you're a ruler, they're an ambassador of another nation, and oh, bonus, they were raised immersed in that nation's culture and so you have no idea if the signals you're trying to give are even being picked up on.
On a visit to Ponyville to catch up with Spike, Ember has just noticed how handsome her first and best friend has gotten, and has no idea what to do with herself about it. She needs to figure that out asap, and so needs some advice, badly. Thankfully, ponies are good with mushy-feely things, so she just needs to track down the local romance expert and shake them down.
And hopefully not burn the town down in the process.

Well, he truly is a gentledrake, but he also has a long and storied history of keeping the powerful humble by poking at their less than exemplary moments. Which may be just what Ember needs on top of what she wants. Great arc, great background concerns amid the pain of the sudden, sharp swerve of dragon culture, and a great read in general. Thank you for it.

As you might have guessed I think Ember has a lot of potential as a character. Being in a position of leadership to see and assist mass change in a culture that's been stagnant for millenia. Then I asked Silver Notes to throw the trial of falling for a friend at her to see what happened.
I hope others find the result as adorable and hilarious as I did.
Yeah even overlooking one Sparky Sparkaroni, I highly doubt this. The fact dragons eat gems on the regular suggests their digestion is caustic enough to produce excess flames that's pass the point of no return, so to speak. Probably more useful and notable coming from the attic, but I'm positive it occasionally goes out the basement too, if against one's control.

What a lovely story, and wonderful character study of Ember and how she'd tackle issues such as this. Personally, I think it was very well done and crafted altogether.

Loved it. Usually Spike/Ember stories tackle it from Spike's perspective, so this is quite refreshing. Plus it's got some great laughs in there, too.

Okay this is an interesting start so it looks like the years has been passed and this is during the aftermath of the last problem and it looks like ember is starting to notice how grown up spike is throughout the years has been very kind to him and she's starting to having these feelings that she never thought it would come like that and she has no idea what to do with that let's see how this will go

Okay so it looks like her plan did not work as according to her idea which probably did not see that coming so instead of asking Rarity she saw one of smolders friends Sandbar and Yona which turns out that they are working for Rarity while she is out to check out the other Boutique but it looks like she's coming back to visit Ponyville so she can wait and they were talking about their younger years and ember found out there is two are a couple so maybe she can get some advice from them without being blunt let's see how that works

Well that was pretty funny and actually kind of sweet so while ember is waiting for Rarity Sandbar and Yona explain how they got together during the season 9 she all yak and I like that episode and ember was pretty amazed how these two ended up together and even the heartaches they had to go through although it was pretty funny that yona thought that Ember was in love with Rarity but she admitted that she was in love with Spike but they also promise not to say anything to anybody especially to smolder I would say that's a pretty nice one I wonder what Rarity was going to say

That depends which ponies mostly the Alicorns live a little longer then other ponies

Aww that was actually really nice and I felt like ember despite dragons live longer she still acts sort of like a teenage girl having a big Crush but it was nice that Rarity gave a pretty good advice for her and how mature she gotten I like that I just hope ember will figure this thing out

Aww I will say this was a pretty nice story it looks like the date was going a little rocky but somehow ember and Spike enjoy their company and it looks like out of frustration she admitted she has feelings for him which spike sort of knew sometimes you just have to figure out communication with each other but other than that this was a really nice one keep up the good work
Rarity gave Ember seriously good advice in this matter. It also makes sense that Spike would wait for Ember to make the first move given that he does tend to view himself as a knight when it comes to romance.
This is a great story but since Spike surely called the hottest ass I wonder if there aren't donkeys who think that's insulting. Of course Spike is an ambassador so he'd know wether or not Donkeys would mind. Him poking fun of Ember really suits him. The fact that Rarity, Sandbar and Yona placed bets on the situation was also funny.
