That makes a lot of sense. It makes the other characters feel more like a true civilization and not some ever-positive land of sunshine.
Always thought it was odd that ponies "just happened" to find an completely uninhabited land to settle together. And how they seem to see some species in this verse, its no wonder they have so many enemies or "monsters" attacking them. And no amount of apologies from select few done in name of "Harmony" won't bring back the dead murdered in the name of the same "Harmony" by many seemingly getting away scot-free.

Potentially depending how much in the dark the rulers are about the true side of things, or do they actually support fully knowing about everything happening. Latter of which also having potential sides of plain "fantastic racism" or inaction caused by "out of sight, out of mind", both flooded with the blood of the innocent. All in the name of Harmony, as the ponies see it. Which also makes one think if some other species concept of harmony is vastly different from ponies view of it, and what would they do in reaction?

I thought this was dead. I thought he would become an urban legend living in the sewers of Manhattan for a while, killing ponies and bidding his time so the story really didn't go in the direction I thought it would.
However, him being caught by Twilight this early in the story feel a bit rushed.
