Lost in Ponyville, the world's most famous cartoon cat finds a friend in kindhearted animal lover Fluttershy, who happily takes in the needy feline. Unfortunately for him, Angel's not very happy about a potential new roommate, and when Fluttershy leaves to pick up some supplies for Tom, chaos ensues.

Written for the Who Crossed Over My Little Pony? crossover contest. Contains classic Tom & Jerry-style cartoon violence, naturally. Atrocious cover art by me.

VERY good job on this one-shot. VERY much in-character for all involved. Not only is the slapstick action true to the style of the classic T & J cartoons, but I also liked the little Mythology Gag to Tom's original name being "Jasper" and well, yeah, I can see where Fluttershy might not have much for REGULAR cats (even if Rarity's cat Opal might pop up once in a while, she is still RARITY's pet and Manny, who is at least PART cat, mostly sticks to the deeper parts of the Everfree). VERY much enjoyed Tom's reaction to the fact he landed on Harry (VERY similar to how he typically reacts to Spike [the bulldog, NOT the dragon]).

All in all, I wouldn't mind a sequel to this in the slightest

Pretty good, if a bit simple. My one question is about your use of the word anthropomorphic. I'm just kinda confused by the usage of that word in this context, given that Fluttershy shouldn't know it. Otherwise, good job.

Uhhhh… Twilight showed her some pictures she brought over from the other side of the mirror?

Yeah, chalk it up to this being my first fic set in Equestria rather than EqG-world. I went ahead and modified it to “strange-looking” to avoid further confusion, and also changed a reference from “someone” to “somepony”.

Not bad, but the prose gets a bit purple at times. You are trying to capture the fundamentally visual genre of classic cartoon slapstick through text, so the focus on description is necessary, but there are times when it feels overwrought. Even ones where the actual, literal impact gets lost amid that prose. For example:

Balancing it carefully, he hopped back over to the couch and, with all his might, hurled it right at the cat's rear end at high velocity.

Tom shot straight into the air, yelping and squealing as his inflamed red buttocks throbbed underneath him.

You've got two phrases on how hard Angel threw the encyclopedia, you forced me to read the phrase "inflamed red buttocks," but the actual strike is implied in the negative space of the line break.

Now, this sort of issue doesn't happen often, but the narration still feels excessively baroque at times. All that being said, you do capture the spirit of Tom vs. a small, troublesome mammal very well, especially him giving almost as good as he gets. For all my criticism on the micro level, this is still a strong contender in the macro. Thank you for it and best of luck in the judging.

Very well done job on the in-character personalities but also the slapstick humor that the classic Tom and Jerry Cartoons are known for. As someone who literally grew up watching the classic T&J as well as the Looney Tunes cartoons, you did a very excellent job.

Fun read! Nice to see Tom!

This is so good! I'm hoping it does/did well in the contest. (I have no idea if the contest results came out yet.)
