Here's an alternate take: Spike 'surrenders' to Sombra and as the last second that Sombra lets his guard down, he eats all the dark power off him and ends him leaving him to being the Crystal Savior and legally have his reward.

I would have liked some more sentences of Twilight's new frame of mind. Like that she get's nervous as she is close to laying as she can't bare the thought of not carrying his clutch. Then of Spike comforting her and promising she won't ever feel empty ever again.
Just one moment of Spike giving support just would add a lot without really dragging anything down.
