i'll add it to my read later list. i'm interested enough to read...but i want to see you update more first.

no offense, there are plenty like this that post 2 or 4 chapters then go dark.

Well the premise is interesting, but 10 to 1 in favor to bluebloods troops, im sorry to say but the only way for lunas troops to win would be if a gunship appeared, not a samurai

I agree with your assessment of the situation.
A lone samurai would not change much when your forces are outnumbered 10 to 1 and are already getting slaughtered after getting flanked by unseen enemy reinforcements

9153289
I wasn't including him
Mostly because I forgot he existed and had a lot of training from all over the world before he got thrown through time

9153296
Still, if one man of fiction can do it, so can others through the same work.

9153408
I'll let this samurai's past judge whether or not he could turn the tide of battle to such a degree or not

9152114
But you also fail to take into account the amount lost by the time he arrived, also the type of soldier he is fighting as well as the skill of the samurai in question. By the time he arrived, Luna's forces had already taken care of almost a third of the enemy forces, leaving less for the samurai to take care of. Also, considering that the spartans were able to fight off far more than ten times their number at Thermopylae, I don't think it is entirely unrealistic.

Bloobloods forces would have been rather close to barbarians, so their skill wouldn't be very good, neither would their armor. Whereas Luna's forces were based off of the roman fighting style, if you didn't already figure that out. They with their superior training, tactics and armory.

And finally, Samurai were trained almost from the moment they could stand to fight, that includes several warriors against one. The samurai training involved this extensively so that numbers wouldn't count for as much as it would if he lacked that training, and the idea with pretty much any multiple people on one scenarios, the idea is to kill one person with one strike so that you can move on to the next. Samurai were also trained to be agile, their armor is more of an insurance than anything, that way if a blow comes, they would get out of the way. And another thing is the weapon he used. The nodachi (meaning great field sword), or odachi (same thing) were giant swords to give eaven greater reach than the katana. It could be longer than a man is tall, the handle followed the curve of the blade, but it, just like every other kind of Japanese sword, was made for agility and speed. If he was using another weapon that was heavier, the kanabo for example, he would have stood much less of a chance because of how slow he would be moving with that weapon.

You also have to take into account that a samurai just happening to show up in a battle, in a land where no samurai had ever been seen before no less, would have a great effect on morale. The entire idea of the menpo, a samurai faceplate, was not only to protect his face and throat but also to frighten his enemy with the hideous form of the mask. The antlers on the helm would have the same effect on morale. I don't think anyone, even if backed up by an army, would be willing to go head to head with a strange and hideous creature wielding a big, sharp piece of metal that just cleaved five of their comrades in half.

The opposite would be true for those he was fighting for. If they saw that this creature that scared the daylights out of their enemy was fighting with them, they'd feel braver than they would if he hadn't shown up.

Ok i see how you thought out tje battle and all, but still 10 to 1 lets say 100 to 1000 or 1000 to 10000 doesnt make a lot of difference in this situation.
Lets see you said spartans vs the persians, there were a lot more than 300 there, somewhere around 5000 greeks, not just spartans, still there was a horde of persians but they defended a narrow pass so yeah numerical superiority there was nullified to an extent. Here you described something from your usual frontline of ancient battles, considering they were flanked.

You said a third of their number were dead when the dude arrived that would leave 600 or 6000 dependong on the scenario i presented thats still a huge ammount of numbers for a force that is ten times smaller and one samurai to deal with.

Sure the samurai have been trained to take on multible foes but that means up to ten foes and thats that yo have pisibly hundreds charging him, sure yo said that his attire would inspire fear among the enemy but that would work on probably the first few that have seen him after that the commotion of battle wouldnt allow for "better look" at the enemy, he would simply get stomped overe due to him not having large enough space to manuver.
Also in most cases it would take 3 times the size of your force to defeat an enemy that is defending, the bad guys had more than that according to you. In short you made your character sound like a mary sue and it would invalidate any future scene where he gets defeated or otplayed, etc

9153732
I see what you're saying. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.

got around to reading it, and i gotta say, celestia is sounding like a useless princess. only thing evil needs to win, is for good people to do nothing. and celestia has done nothing about blueblood.

was a brief glimpse at your version of celestia, but it says a lot.

9155486
Well, she also did nothing about Discord, Sombra or Nightmare Moon in the actual series. Tirek she did something minor, Luna actually wanted to and fight Sombra but wasn't allowed to, and she did literally nothing aside from send letters. So the show itself says Celestia is lazy, and does nothing.

9155506
i always got the impression that she needed to grow up. wise and all that? maybe... but her behavior at doing nothing? as if she's afraid of giving bad news, or doing something that would hurt anyone.

9155533
The idea is that she wants a perfect world, but that comes with great sacrifice. The racism situation would have been solved a lot quicker if all the blacks (and im not saying it to be racist so take no offence) just picked up guns and started demanding fair treatment, and shooting hostages when it was denied. Ghandi would have gotten his people freedom more easily if he had armed every indian he could and they just began brutally murdering englishmen. I don't promote violence, but not everything can be solved peacefully, which is what Celestia wants in this case. The south africans would have gotten rid of the english a lot quicker if they killed them off, and collatoral and morale damage is another thing they could have done. The reason the ottomans were so good at fighting is because everyone was afraid of them, and therefore public order came easier to them than most other countries, same idea here.

9155547
i am looking forward to more of this story, to see exactly how celestia is so ignorant of luna being in the front lines fighting. or if she does know, why is she not helping?

9155556
Thanks, I hope I do acceptably well.

Good work
Can't wait to see Blueblood get his. :pinkiecrazy:

good, this answers questions about celestia as well as a few other things. and it is not dumb, it is an 'interlude' type chapter. with important story information in it. a good chapter, short, but informative- in several ways.

9155673
No, I mean I kind of rushed it a little. at least I think I did.

9155676
This doesn’t feel rushed to me.

9155698
Thank you. That's good to know.

9155676
im sort of with mouringmist. it's is a fast short chapter, but it's not entirely rushed. it's just short, and only one scene

I want blueblood to get karma beatdown

Of course it's the spineless maggot Blueballs

oo.. luna becoming a deadly warrior! i likey... although Akira will have to tell her how katana and the like were forged. after all, it's no simple matter of reshaping steel of any kind. (perhaps looking up man at arms reforged on youtube for reference? if not for yourself, then for your readers)

they do the traditional method. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhdFygUJOek

i realize the above is chinese origin, but they do have a kill bill and some other actual katana forges.

...god this reads awkward... The pacing is fast ... But I'm not sure if that is what irks me...
I love the premise but it seems like just the stereotypical 'awesome samurai' like cheap films like to portray them...
Also is this anthro equestria? Do not assume your readers know how every character looks like. Describe them. Be specific. You tend to brush over this things and I'm kinda missing some information... Could you maybe elaborate a lot more?
Write every minor detail of the image in your head. Be as precise as you possibly can to help us understand what is happening.
You want to describe not only what is happening but also the where and the maybe even the why. ( Of course you can skip the why as long as it is explained later on or can be learned by reading between the lines.)
As it is now it's simply MC does this, then this happens, Luna does battle, loses, MC saves the day, Luna happy(which is always a good thing) it's pretty... Dull. (Please don't get me wrong all I'm saying is that it could be a lot more enthralling if you would explain more.

I will follow you and hope to see this grew into a great fic.

Sorry if my criticism comes over to hard ... I don't mean to insult you or anything. I just want to help you improve:twilightblush:

Akira Imamura. Samurai, and a good one. He wore the usual light armor of the samurai and carried the daisho, twin swords of the samurai. He also carried the nodachi, a very long sword, longer than a man is tall. The first sword, the wakizashi, was a short daggerlike version of the katana. The katana came next, a long two handed sword, the hilt having space for three hands. The nodachi was so large that the handle had room for five hands and followed the curve of the blade.

Gary Sue is off the charts

9156431
No no. Your criticisms are most useful. thank you for pointing these out and I will do what I can to improve on them. please continue to give criticism, be it in any way shape or form it is useful.

9156395
It's no problem, it is pretty much the same thing as the katana. Perhaps he would explain to the actual bladesmiths and they figure out the specifics.

9162625

Thank you for complimenting my attempt at describing a dwarven city.

9162646
Luna:“V-very well sir?”

what's this? another chapter? dost mine eyes deceive me? :O

I can see that the walls being huge has already been covered, but for reference for those who don't want to look up exact numbers.
1 Ri = 12,885 Feet : 1/4 Ri = 3,221.25 feet : The current tallest building in the world is 2,717 feet
Which means the first gate alone is about 500 feet taller than the current tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa.

9163399
Yeah, my math isn’t very good.

Inb4 Blueblood gets his shit wrecked by the Ronin

'these animals' he said... clearly, we know their mentality. extremely delusional

Well there’s The Ronin, Luna… anyone else he trains.… a lot.

lol.. well well well, little twily is all grown up. xD nice

Quite enjoyable. Will track this one and see where it goes.

So will the next four chapters be introduction to the mane six with each of them getting a bang at the end?
Cause that's the vibe I'm getting.
