When I started reading these I had no idea how incredibly realistic (ignoring the monologuing) it was for the villain (or just anyone in general really) to just outright ignore reality even when presented with irrefutable proof.
He's completely right she didn't reason her way into that position, it's unrealistic to expect he would be able to reason her out of it.
But him being able to anyway makes it more interesting and then we still get to have the fight anyway!
