All the ingredients are there and he does when he has to, but then he fades into what is comfortable. Remember this is the dude who gave up being a God-king just because he would rather hang and be of help. So if spike was ever put in this situation I truly feel it would all drop away and we could truly have Kaiju Spike.
Based on what I seen with spike about to read new chapter it looks like all the girls are going to "ascend" to a new form and monsters like that can be summoned by magical seals and circles and it reminded me of your story when I found them.

this doent really do justice to what cthulhu really is. cthulhu is a being with power beyond our comprehension and the act of just looking at him will drive someone insane. cthulhu if he had risen would have already destroyed everything by awaking azothoth. he couldve killed spike with little to no effort. the elememts of harmony would do nothing to him. i know this sounds OP, but cthulhu was never meant to be some obstacle to be overcome, but a sign of the inevitable that will come to pass no matter how hard you try. all in all, i dont really like how you portray cthulhu.

I am well aware of the cthullu of lovecraftian lore’s power level. But remember that cthullu awoke to world that had absolutely no defense against him, none. He is , most certianly not at his most powerful here. The very world is constraining him. The reason I put those story on hiatas was because I was overwhelming myself at the time. This story started as an nightmare I had over the course of a month. Take it as you will.

You weren’t. You were bringing up a legitmate concern as pertains to the source material. And although you did get the fact that it is not cthulu who awakens his father that sleeps among the dancing court it is Nylarhotep, who os awake any way so once luna is done it wont matter anyway, you proded a frustration of mine in that this story at its base was a little beyond me. The reason that not all are going insane is simply that Equestrians already live with a higher level of magic then we do. They have a refrence to measure chthulu and the rest where we as humans rather severly do not. Therefore our minds go pop while depending on thhe individual equestrian there is a waiting period before that breakage occurs. Another is that since we not only have no way to put those of the mythos into a framework we are also ineffective in the use of any and all tools that could be effective because of that unfamailiarity. In Eqeustria all of its citizens would at the very least have a base understanding with the more advanced having a greater facility simpley because of living in a society overflowing with the very concepts we find so terrifing and therefore insanity inducing. Although they are still famaliar enough to us that we can understand them and not pop when we interact. So ironiclly the mythos dwellers, in thinking that they had found an easy way in, had inadvertantly found the one place that would take away the greatest weapon they have, that insanity inducing lack of refrence and effectiveness, and allow them to be fought and resisted on a more even level. The mythos things are still op and ungodly, but the natives don’t go absolutely bugshit unless shown complete horror and even then have a greater tendency to bounce back, Diamond Tiara, although with serious issue, Diamond Tiara. You happened to touch on the sore subject that I seemed to not be able to show what was going on. I apologize if I seemed a little defensive, that was not fair. I appreciate all comments and yours was not dickish on the slightest. Just should have waited to respond a bit to give myself time to think. I do thank you for your comment and it did make me think a bit more critically so when I come back to this I can give it the overhaul it deserves and finish it.

A nice ending to a good story. Ivloved how you led all of them bound in that few chapters without (in my opinion) forcing it.
That declararion to sacrefise happy memories in order to held their loved ones is truely noble of them. And that twist with sunset at the end, just great.

*Realizes what’s actually about to happen a few paragraphs from the end.* That . . . That’s freakin’ genius!
Seriously, I would’ve been alright with the tragic ending of the six giving up their lives to bring peace to Equestria, and would’ve been a little put out if they had just suddenly been brought back to life without anything really changing (A la Wolf’s Rain) But this . . . I feel like a fool for not seeing it coming quicker but, making it so that this whole story was just sort of like a prequel to the actual series, and using the battles and sacrifices made by the Six herein as the reason why no true evil exists in Equestria now except for, perhaps, the occasional little sliver here or there was freakin’ brilliant, man!
I loved it, and, as I already said, if I could give it more thumbs up, I would.
