I am a Scotsman who writes stories, not all of which are of the self-insert variety. YouTube Channel

When Button Mash thrashes somepony in online multiplayer, he is quick to gloat about it. When the pony in question says that they could easily track him down, he challenges them to do exactly that; he even bets them a hundred bits that they won't.

His opponent says they will, but Button isn't worried; after all, it's not like they will actually go through all the effort of tracking him down, right?

Alternate Universe tag is there because the Internet exists in this version of Equestria. A character tag is also missing, to prevent spoilers.

Careful what you wish for Button, you might just get it. Nobody likes a sore winner.

Honestly, Diamond Tiara is a pretty good candidate for video games. She has lots of money, only one friend for most of the series, and her parents seem like they are gone all the time. I could definitely see her secretly playing games, even if she would never admit it.

"Who's salty now?" she muttered under her breath. "Loser."

A part of me really hoped that Button heard that. I also hope he gets a big 'I told you so' when he gets home.

Button just learned two important lessons:
1) No one likes either a sore loser or a sore winner.
2) Never bet more than you can afford to lose.

Good story!
How long do you think he will need to a mentally (and financially) recovery? And - even more important - did he learn something?

Button snorted. "Those days are as old as you are, Mom,"

Aaaaaand that sets up his downfall indirectly.
