I don't get military lingo, but I love it either way

But wait, shouldn't Equestria currently be celebrating Hearth's Warming, with Winter Wrap Up set for a few months later at the end of winter?
In any case, good story.

All other factors being equal, a landmass the size of Saudi Arabia suddenly appearing in the central Pacific would do a serious number on Earth's weather cycle - among other things, it would probably derange the el Nino/la Nina heat engine. Mostly by completely eliminating the waters involved in that transmission belt, I guess? I don't know, I'm just a database monkey, you'd want to ask the model hacks about that. But once you throw in weather-control and SNOW AT SEA LEVEL ON THE TROPIC OF CANCER and it sounds like something out of the more dystoptic portions of Fallen Angels.

I really want to see more if this :applecry:

I agree, I would enjoy reading more from this world. So much fun and hilarious things, because we as readers, know things that the USS McCain do not. Still, this is fun, I would love to read more from this world.

Huh. I somewhat understand the military language, so that made this story a little more interesting. Overall, I liked a lot. Keep it up!

It's a good thing a replacement is provided prepackaged with the continent. ;)

Also, Celestia and Luna are probably out of a job. Bet they're pissed.

This is really amusing.

From the co-ordinates given, this Equestria is sitting in the area marked out by Midway Atoll, Johnston Atoll, and Wake Island. All three of those are controlled by the USA, which effectively makes Equestria the USA's issue to deal with. As at minimum it's appearance has disrupted trade routes between those three territories.

Very cool story! I enjoy the dedication of the crypto and signals folks in trying to be professional while watching something so unbelievable. While all the world watches and wonders, Celestia eats cake and ponders a bit, Luna watches with the careful eye of the warrior, Cadence watches patiently and Twilight alternates between exhaustive study and freaking out.

Meanwhile, while on the quarter watch in the engine room of USS McCain, MM1 O. Bronie reads, 'Once upon a time, in the magical land of Equestria...'

Definitely the most unique piece I've read here. But I like it. It was interesting and fun to read.

I plugged the latitude and longitude in to and saw that you are correct about the location. You do have a point about the area being the greatest interest to the US but it is international waters and I can totally see other nations poking around.

More military+pony from TNAB? I'm in.

After reading: huh interesting. But I have to ask: what prompted this?

I love the fact we know what's up with seemingly impossible phenomena happening in Equestria, but the in-story humans are completely baffled by things like Cloudsdale and weather control.

This seems like it'd be a great premise for a continuity. Is Equestrian magic on Earth now, or is it just in their lands? What about the sun and moon, do the Princesses have a connection with ours? So many potential questions!

I loved when Octy stole Vinyl's thunder, that was priceless :rainbowlaugh:

SNoOPIE, really? You went there? *groan* :)

Nice one. Favorited.

Never read anything like this.

Genius.

Oh, now THIS was a pleasant way to pass the time. Hereby requesting either a sequel, or something in the same vein. This was just a delight!

I wasn't in the Navy myself....I'm retired U.S. Air Force. My father was a Machinist Mate in the Navy, though. I put that in there as a little tribute to him. I did the same basic work in my career and I would enjoy sharing the stories he told me as well as any of own you would care to hear.

Well, that was fun and interesting, although I noticed that you cut the acronym soup down to make it understandable to the readers. I definitely understand why you did that, but at the same time there's a part of me that's grumbling at the inaccuracy of it being understandable to anyone else.

7778772 Go for it. Military stories are always fun since some idiot always manages to find a new and unique way to make a spectacular clusterfuck when left to his/her own devices.

Pissed? I bet they're overjoyed. VACATION TIME!:pinkiehappy:

As a sailor with sea time under his belt, that is in fact what we call that team. It's always funny seeing newbies get funny looks when they hear the away call for the snoopie team

Sounds like there could be a minific of what happened with the owner/operators of 94.0 during that time. And what led to Octavia's seizing control of the programming.

Google Earth THEY KNOW ALL

7778916 :pinkiehappy: I love it when an author shows their work! Real-world-y details like that always make a story feel more alive to me.

Is this in-continuity with any of your other series? I have read a few "Equestria comes to Earth"-type stories, and to my shame they've started to run together in my head. Did you have a series in this vein?

This was beautiful. I loved seeing the back-and-forth between sea and shore. Slipping in that request to double-check their sensors and machinery was also wonderful.

7780206 I did, but this wasn't intended as part of a continuity.

Minor nitpick- wouldn't the music on 12/25 be Hearth's Warming music rather than Winter Wrap-Up?

Ah, the military. The only organization that enjoys acronyms more than telecoms engineers. AJWD, my friend!

This was interesting. I wonder what the rest of the crew was thinking?

7776912 Their magic better not exist outside their country, or I'll slap a bitch...
If they affect solar bodies here I'm going to create the SCP foundation JUST FOR THEM.

7776273 US VS. Ponies
Well, ponies are fucked...
