Vinyl Scratch likes electronics and being loud. So, she joins the Marine Corps to fly the EA-6B Prowler.

It makes sense to her.

Vinyl Scratch becomes a Marine Corps Pilot? This I gotta read!

>Octavia with an eyepatch

Dude I love you.

This really quite something, but I enjoyed it a lot!

Prowler was an interesting choice of aircraft. Couldn't just be any F/A-18 or anything, I guess.

They were VMAQ-2. They were towards the north end of MAG-14's flight line, IIRC, They had to change their name for the sake of political correctness, but they'll always be the Playboys to me.

Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane.

> No A-10

> No guns going BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT.

> I is sad.

Still, great job!

Ha- Greatly enjoyed this- Not an airforce guy, so didn't know much about this Growler, only the F-18 replacement for it. Yay! Education! Ending was good as well.

Highbrow homosexuals: the Air Force in a nutshell

*haughty sniff* Well, I suppose such a low-brow view is only to be expected of marines.

Although admittedly my previous squadron did have a lot of homosexuals. Both male and female.

The presenter stepped up to the microphone. “The Nobel Peace Prize goes to Vinyl Scratch, Octavia Melody, and Daft Punk for an electronic/orchestral fusion so good it ended war in the Middle East.”

Over 20 years fighting and this was all we had to do.

As someone who works with Prowlers, I enjoyed this fic immensely!

7846265 Oh dang, I wish I could have had your help while writing this. Several years ago, I met someone from Whidbey Island at Everfree Northwest but wasn't able to locate them while putting this story together.

But hey, I might ask for your help elsewhere. This is hardly the first military story I've ever written and likely won't be the last.

7846382 I'm not an operator, I develop jammer techniques, but I have been to Whidbey and Cherry Point. A lot of things I couldn't confirm or deny without bumping into classification issues. I liked when Vinyl was disappointed with only being a pilot. The Prowler Electronic Warfare Officers / Electronic Counter-Measure Officers tend to treat the pilots as chauffeurs and complain about "front-seat ECMOs" asking questions and wanting to know about what's happening with the jammers. (This was a rude awakening when some of them moved to Growlers, because most of the pilots were F-18 flyers and treated the ECMOs as passengers.) Solving the crisis in the Middle East via military jets and music reminds me of the song "Rock the Casbah"

7846435 I've heard that. Fighter pilots treat NFO's like second class citizens, whereas Prowler/Growler/Hawkeye literally can't do their job without backseaters. Though, many Prowler NFO's transitioned to being Growler pilots when Prowlers went away.

Hehehe, this was an entertaining read. Damn fine work man, damn fine work.

7813956 Know this is quite a bit late, but the EA-6B is the Prowler. The new EF-18D that Boeing is producing is the Growler. Either way, they are all Wild Weasel aircraft.

Flight of the intruder

Depending on the timeframe (I haven't read the story yet) an EF-111A 'Sparkvark' might be just as good.
