No, I'm saying that since this is anthro, some of the rules about being pony are already out the window. I'd find it a bit weird, but bare-skinned anthro "ponies" aren't off the list if the author really wants things that way.

Well, it would be very odd if the character have all of the characteristics of anthropromorphic animals, but no fur when said animal does have. That seems to be the case here. Until the author says that is what he meant then it most likely was just a simple slip up.
That, or he is going for some mutant umamimis, like the Equestrian Girls abominations.

To be fair, just saying "a world of ponies" doesn't automatically mean intelligent ponies, even though we all know they are. I'm just looking at the wording of the sentence.
I feel like an idiot. Read first chapter and saw her friends passed away and was wondering when it happened. Then got to tile to see Set 200 years after the events of "Friendship is Magic".

In a world of magic his 'problem' can solved and he is in a future spaceship colonies/countries Ara which means they have at least a better medical Field then us right now, they probably have easements/prosthetics.
