"Fanfic [has] been on the decline since the Aeneid." --Anonymous poster 18/03/15

E

Rainbow Dash is a young pegasus who is fresh out of Flight School and eager to start her new job in Ponyville's Weather Team. That is, until a setback presents itself during her first day in the form of a little pegasus filly.

Originally written for the Writeoff's Association event "I can Explain", but wasn't able to submit it in time. I decided to finish it and put it up regardless.

Pretty Cute with a side of sad.

“What took you so long?” Downdraft said in a tired voice. as she turned around to face the newly arrived pegasus.

:twilightsheepish:

Wha... Why am I crying? Oh boy. That happens when you are feeling sad and search for a sad story on fimfic... Well done!
Oh, and I just saw this also appears in the "popular stories" section.

Oh, and I just saw this also appears in the "popular stories" section.

Oh, good. I was afraid this one would fade into obscurity as well. :twilightsheepish:

The feels damn it.

"Rainbow Dash prided herself in being the epitome of coolness. A paragon of awesome who didn’t bother with mushy stuff. But maybe it was the tale the little filly had told them, or her naïveté and innocence, or perhaps just the sheer sadness and grief she emanated that caused Rainbow not to be able to hold back and let the tears flow freely down her cheeks."

As they flowed down mine as well.

Simply beautiful. :fluttercry:

First, you'll have to get this edited. Noticed a few mistakes. Second, what do they plan to do with the envelope? Discard it as soon as they drop Scootaloo off?

Noticed a few mistakes

Dang it. Every time...
Rest assured, I'll fix the mistakes right away.

what do they plan to do with the envelope?

Considering that in the story Scootaloo is a couple of years younger than in the show, you can't really tell her: "Sorry, kiddo. Your mom is dead, we can't send her the letter."
Keeping the letter was a way of humouring her without hurting her feelings.

This was cute, I liked it.
