He is the king of kings, hero of heroes! More god than man! He is Gilgamesh! Lord of Uruk! Owner of all the treasures of the world! Few doubt of his holy right to rule all! However, after the outcome of his defeat in the hands of that hated faker, Shirou Emiya, the golden king somehow finds himself face to face with some extremely unusual circumstances that leave even him, completely baffled. What will be the result of this odd colision of fates?

Fate/Stay Night crossover. Unlimited blade works route.

Read it if you like, tolerate it if you don't.

Hmmm I like the idea of Gilgamesh being a pony.
Certainly would suit as a humbling experience for the Conceited Golden Bastard.
Can't wait for the next chapter to see what happens next.

Secondly I would like to take the time and say this

FUCK SHIROU EMIYA!!!!
That son of a bitch was wearing plot armor the whole way through Unlimited Blade Works :flutterrage:

Your prose is pretty good, but I would suggest offering a little more backstory to idiots like myself that have no idea what it is that you're crossing over. :fluttercry:

Go Wiki Fate Stay/Night and look up Unlimited Blade works.

It'll explain everything up to this point

Although I DO THINK that he should at least explain the part where Gilgamesh fought Shirou and lost due to him running out of Prana and no longer being able to keep a stable body

Wow, my first comments on this site! And they aren't flames either! Awesome-o. Seriously though, thanks for commenting guys, i kinda got scared that people would start throwing tomatoes at me when i first saw that my first reviews were thumbs down.

Moving on:

Madara XIII: Oh trust me, if i have any say in it, by the conclusion of this story Gilgamesh will be having nightmares of his equestrian times for centuries to come. (I owe the bastard for what he did to the gar-ness that is Broskandar!)

Ginger (i can call you ginger right?): I understand man. I'll try and have Gallopgamesh over there offer some proper exposition by the end of the next couple of chapters (Can't have him just blurt out the whole thing at one time in a flight of fancy. Would be kinda weird and illogical) . I kinda have to warn you though that Type MOON tend to make their lore big, complex and atypical. Although I’ll try and be as thorough as possible with it, some small details might confuse. If you’re interested in looking it up a bit yourself, the show Gilgamesh comes from is a Visual novel that was later adapted to this huge anime franchise called "Fate/Stay night". The games offered several alternative routes the player could take, allowing up to three different versions of the same to story to be experienced. The route this Gilgamesh is from is the "unlimited blade works" route. You can fine more details within a) Wikipedia b) Type-Moon wiki c) In anilinkz where you can find the anime itself. I also recommend looking up Fate/zero, a prequel that seems to explain a lot more of what’s actually happening in the mad house that's the Fate series. (Also, its THE best anime of the season, if you ask me.)

Given that Gilgamesh got a physical, living body from the Grail at the end of the Fourth Grail War (the events of which are going to be covered by the anime Fate/Zero), how would Gilgamesh run out of Prana in the first place? It was the only thing I didn't understand from the UBW movie. I could understand if it was a case where he had exhausted himself, but having been unconscious and all, I have a hard time figuring out why it wouldn't replenish itself. After all, he wasn't beholden to any command seals if I remember the normal Fate/Stay Night anime correctly, so how the hell is it he's affected on any long term basis by a lack of prana? :rainbowhuh:

I own the anime and I've seen the fansub of the UBW movie (which I just ordered since it was finally getting domestic release), and this still bugs me. Having never played the game, I might be missing something here, but it did always make me wonder.

I can't really tell you this with one hundred percent certainty, but the way i see it, the only thing Gil got when he got grail-splashed was just his Heroic Spirit body turning kinda solid, physical and, you know, non-abstract. All around he was still working under all the rules that a heroic spirit was forced to follow. After all, during the time between the two wars, fourth and fifth, Kirei had to feed him the souls of orphaned children to keep him functioning and/or powerful enough to access his NPs and sustain his abilities. (Yes, Gilgamesh DOES eat babies) I also heard something about him forming a contract with Kotomine's daughter during that entire time but even if that false, he still proved to function close enough to a heroic spirit to make a master-servant contract with Matou Shinji during the UBW route.

727254 :ajsmug: ......................pretty good:moustache:

This story pleases me. I may not understand what this is a crossover of, and will forever have the old myths and legends of Gilgamesh that I read in my head as I read this, but an enjoyable story is an enjoyable story, and on that note *leans back* don't let me keep you.

I demand more of this story.
Do not fail me.

727090
I'd like to second that FUCK SHIROU EMIYA.

728592

Look up Fate Stay/Night Unlimited Blade Works

But this IS the anime version of Gilgamesh who is the same Gilgamesh from the EPIC of Gilgamesh

Fate Stay/Night and Fate Stay/Zero are animes about how great heroes throughout time are summoned into 7 classes to fight for the Holy Grail and each of the 7 historical figures throughout time summoned are partnered with a human.

The 7 classes are

- Saber (King Arturia. King Arthur was actually a woman)
- Archer (Gilgamesh was an Archer whos ability was to through Millions of Swords in Fate Zero, but then Shirou's future self became the new Archer)
- Rider (Alexander the Great and Medusa were riders)
- Assassin ( Hassan Al Sabaad and
- Caster (Blue Beard and Madea were Casters)
- Lancer ( Cu Chalain and Diramuid were Lancers)
- Berserker (Hercules and Lancelot were Berserkers)

I fail at replying! Yay! Anyway, thanks for the information, I may have just found a new anime to follow, which is always good, one can never watch enough anime in my opinion.

730291

Well I suggest watching Fate/Zero first. It takes Ten years before Fate/Stay Night and helps explain what happened between Gilgamesh and Saber.

Sadly Fate/Zero is still finishing at CrunchyRoll. Only 4 more episodes to go before it finishes so you've got time to check it out :twilightblush:

730933

Wait, four? I thought there were only 25 eps in total.

731198
25 or 26 give or take.
Right now it's up to episode 22 & 23 comes out Friday.
We finally get to see Enuma Elish in action against Rider

732631

Dude, i already saw that episode. Its been out on www.anilinkz.com for like, two or three days. Link: http://anilinkz.com/fate-zero-s2-episode-10-ep-23

to me Gilgamesh seemed a little extreme, this personality seems like it came from zero, then fate stay night. the way he is acting is what he reserves for fighting his enemies. to get some hint of more of his personality look up at the wiki sight for fate/stay night. you may have your own reasons, but don't take it at face value of his personality. also to help his alignment is chaotic good. but whatever. so far i am loving this story and hope to here from you some more, and dont take any of what i said rudely or anything, just he seems to be a little extreme.:scootangel:

909627

Nah, no offense taken, you're right after all, Gil IS a bit off character right now. My only excuse is really that he's confused and out of his element for the first time in millennia. Since i had absolutely no clue how he would act in a situation where he was powerless, lost and kept in the dark, (NEVER seen in the original series) i figured he would be touchy, sensitive and over the top, trying to overcompensate his every flaw with his gi-normus ego.

Thanks for the criticism. I wish i had more comments like this.

I have no idea why this is getting so many dislikes, because this is one of the most brilliantly and humorously written crossovers of a human character from a game/novel/etc getting transported over into Equestria after their death and having to adapt to life there as a pony. Gil's behaviour, while probably a little bit off, is still so over-the-top arrogant it's awesome, as it was in Fate/Zero where I loved his character the absolute most. That, and hats off to you for having done an FSN/MLP crossover before I have!

You've got my thumbs up sir, and I hope to see more FSN/MLP from you in the near future!

1193040 Ha! Well! Its good to know i have some satisfied customers! The responses for the second chapter were so bad i feared i may have screwed up horribly. I hit a wall trying to figure what went wrong and how to fix it! Thanks for the support, definitely helps me in getting a bit more serious with writing this next chapter. I’ll make sure it will be up soon.

Yeah, this is awesome. The only problem i have is with the speed that your putting these babies out at. :pinkiesad2: I don't want to rush perfection though. It needs to be perfect.

1205800 Main problem's that i'm a med student. Sometimes in the year i'm lucky to have time to breath. I can usually write my chapters within a day or two as long as i have them. Past that, everything else is motivation. I've been so short on both lately due to exams and bad reviews that i just didn't get in that writting mood. Ya know. You can thank HellRyden for my sudden burst of motivation yesterday. Oh, and don't worry, I already have chapter four in the works so it won't take nearly as long as this did.

1206133
Med student, thats got to be tough. Yeah i can understand it, don't worry just take your time. But its good to know it won't take as long on the next one though. :rainbowlaugh::pinkiehappy:

Okay, so Gilgamesh can still use Gate of Babylon, which would explain his wealth since everything in there re-spawns infinitely.

But why doesn't he just go to Canterlot and try to make an 'alliance' with the princesses?

Gilgamesh: Form a Contract with me and I shall smite your enemies.
Celestia: So you need 'prana' do you? :trollestia:
Gilgmesh:...why are you looking at me like tha-no! Don't touch me there-!

1279281

Three reasons.

One, Gilgamesh is still in the process of setting up shop in Equestria. The last few weeks, he's been too busy regaining his strength, learning to walk and finding a 'worthy' place to stay. Also, he doesn't actually have the instinctual knowledge of the world servants usually attain when they are being summoned so he's pretty much in the process of getting acquainted with where the hell he is, what the hell he's supposed to be doing, how the hell things work and what in the name of the bloody root is happening around him.

Two, while he can now make a limited use of his noble phantasms due to soaking up in Equestria's mana rich environment for the last month, he's still very much a shadow of his former self. All his stats are down to E or D, at BEST C, and his gate of Babylon can only really function in its 'sword bazooka' mode. The source of his current wealth is actually due to one of his lesser known abilities and is properly explained in chapter four. All in all, he knows that he still needs to regain a bit more strength before starting to move aggressively like that. Heck, he wasn't able to keep his hooves under him a while back. If Gilgamesh was going to just rush into the palace demanding to make a 'mistress' out of the princess, he would damn well do it when he can actually stand up high enough gaze down at her with the proper belittling manner.

Three, he is just plain old stubborn. He chose Twilight as a master? She damn well will be one if he has a say in this. At least...for the moment. *insert evil chuckle*

Anyway, thanks for your comment, i may get them in short supply but if they give me the lolz like this one, its all worth it.

:pinkiehappy::rainbowlaugh: I flipping loved this. I like how this is going so far. And I'm even surprised you had time to write even this while studying for college. :rainbowkiss:

Somewhere, in the halls of Avalon, Saber is laughing her ass off. Also, I like how you kept Gilgamesh (and the audience) in the dark about his problem keeping his balance. :trollestia:

Golden Rule is the best Servant skill. Period.

Best part is, it isn't even dependent on the Servant's prana!

Oh, this is just glorious.

Also, it's great to find out that the fimfiction version of this is two chapters ahead of fanfiction.net's version. It's like getting double updates at once.

OBJECTION! Gilgamesh is definitely not good-aligned. :ajbemused:

Also, some amusing typos from various chapters:

Gilgamesh, both as heroic spirit and one born in the now passed age of gods, had seen his fair share of strangle magical talking creatures in the past.

Her conjugation spells had been flawless,

Where had the good old days gone, when the odd monster and occasional rampart elder god reared up its ugly head

"Yeah, well, maybe you should have thought of that before YOU PUT ME A SAC"

"You appear to have a way with running the ponies around you rugged."

2111896

Yeah, sorry about that >.>.

Always had a problem with typos. When i start getting lost in the act of writing, i usual stop paying attention to how I’m writing what I’m trying to convey and with a few thousands of words to read over i sometimes miss things. It would have been ALOT worse were it not for my Proofreader.

Now, an update for the next chapter. (Addressed to anyone who cares) I have the layout all set down and two or three parts already written. It’s gonna be pretty big methinks (as a sorry for the delay >.>), at least ten-thousand words. It’s going really slow though. Currently caught up with some projects and what-not. I can probably write it a day if i can get my mind into it so expect it in anything between a day or two to a few weeks.

2113312
It's okay. Actually, if you want, I wouldn't mind looking over any future chapters for typos as well.
Also, glad to hear that there's gonna be an update soon! I just started reading this today, and I'm glad I did.

Waiting for the next chapter myself. And, Gilgamesh is a total flankhole, as he is called out on in this, but his official alignment IS Chaotic Good. Nasuverse Alignment can be a strange beasty. Regardless, he is amusing for all his assholeishness, and i'm enjoying and being amused by this. Gil being in Canterlot when the griffons try and pull a stunt? Oh, that's not going to end well for them.

Celestia has invited the Hero King to Canterlot...oh this is going to be good.

Wonder how he'll react to luna?

Alright... so it's tagged Comedy, and it involves 'Gil'...

He's going to wish he had truly died just to spare himself the humiliation more than once, isn't he? I wonder how many blows his ego can take before it starts to wrap his worldview and/or psyche. And I wonder if there is someone out there immune to Charisma? I can smell the impeding storm for when he encounters Celestia...

Also, the Griffins are totally out of their depth.

(Hmm... now that I think about Gil's stuff, I don't think Enkidu was meant to be used against targets that can teleport.)

I have done nothing but laugh each time I read a paragraph of this story. I've always found Gilgamesh to be an interesting character, if only because I'm thoroughly familiar with the actual Epic of Gilgamesh. My limited experience with the Fate series does leave a few gaps for me but this story is enjoyable enough that I don't really care. I look forward to more shenanigans with our favorite golden-boy.

And now the antagonist is revealed. I cannot wait to see Gilgamesh annihilate an entire mountain range with his "so totally not a drill" sword. XD

I could barely stop giggling as I read.
Gilgamesh may be a bastard supreme, but by god his he fun to watch.

Also, I love how he's starting to influence Dinky.

"I, DINKY DO. PONY OF PONIES, DEMAND YOU BRING ME ICE CREAM."

The only thing holfing him in the material world now, as well as the reason he saved the CMC, is his EGO.

It's basically his strongest NP.

Now for the closing statement by Gil himself:
"Update this Story as fast as you can, Mongrel. Your King orders this!"

This was TOTALLY worth the wait!

Best chapter yet, by far!

Poor Wormwing, had no idea how badly he screwed himself by attacking. I suppose this means Gilgamesh just completely derailed the Mane Six assassination plot by complete accident?

...looks to the left...
...looks to the right...
...
He's not gonna make FLUTTERSHY his master...is he?

God this was fun to read please don't ever give up on this story its too awesome for that.

729503 Jeez man, put the brakes on them spoilers. You shouldn't just up and spoil the "Knight in Red"'s true identity like that.

PS: By any chance have you seen any crossover fics focusing on said "other" Archer?

2113312 1: Nice Anti-Spiral Avatar avatar
2: It's "Emiya Shirou" not "Shirou Emiya". Family names are before personal names in Japanese.

Now then. LET THE READING COMMENCE!

EDIT: After reading what is released I'm not certain whether to hope this phenomenon completes it work or that it is forced to cease and desist...

I am however certain that, despite numerous real word typos throughout, I require more of this Epic.

5994094

No quite sure if your review is a positive or a negative one.

Eitherway, I am currently trying to get back to this fic. I know I made alot of previous typos and that I am a very messy writer. I hoping that I'll get the chance to go back and correct everything in the future.

5995625 Positive, in the past I have given up on what may have been good stories if not for numerous typos but this was good enough with the typos being easy enough to see past that I continued reading it.

The "phenomenon" I was speaking of was spoilers for the Fourth Verse so I didn't want to say what it was where someone could see it checking the comments from the "Table of Contents" page to see if this story was worth reading.

One other thing to watch for whenever you go through the earlier chapters to correct typos would be during the "language barrier misunderstanding" bit you should have the ponies saying 'whorse' while Gil is saying 'horse'.

this looks very promising....

99 weeks later and still no update ... i guess this story is dead. It ws fun for the amount of it present, though sadly not active anymore.

6114083

99 weeks, eh? Sorry about that.

I wouldn't call this story dead though. I'm just in a long hiatus if nothing else. I work on the chapters here and there but my university currently has my full attention.
