With a chapter title like that, I was expecting them to walk out of the desert and wind up at a bar called the Teat Twister that's filled with bat ponies.
I liked the background with Tirek. Not many stories really acknowledge what kind of a major disaster his actions caused. Still, you have the Equestrians being even more xenophobic than usual because of it, but it's still a solid reason.

There is a total of ten characters that the story will revolve around, some appearing sooner than others. My burgeoning, weird crush on Speira has not abated.
Finally got around to catching up with this story.
I think I noted it before, but the past few chapters really emphasized it very clearly: I'm very fond of your anecdote-style worldbuilding. That is, being capable of showing off an interesting environment with interesting history using only the characters themselves to do so.
Also this line was very very nice. You've got alot of nice lines like that actually—sometimes I'm convinced this story exists inside of some parallel dimension where time moves more quickly because the pacing is very engaging and entertaining even when the entire chapter consists solely of Speria and Quill talking.
Question: do you have any plans for any of the other princesses besides Twilight to appear?
