John Faust is at the end of his rope.
He's hopelessly in debt, an alcoholic, and overall has no hope for the future.

In desperation, he uses a mysterious book to make a deal with an eldritch entity. The being's deal seems fair enough; pay the price, and it'll take him to the land of his dreams.
Unfortunately, there's a catch. A really big catch.
