Vinyl Scratch has travelled with Princess Luna to the far off land of South Island, the homeland of the kangaroos in order to return an ancient artefact to it's resting place. The two ponies quickly find themselves walking across the South Island Outback where they meet an old friend along the way.

Ah....so whatever is going to happen in THIS mega-series will involve Luna gathering together the grouping of ponies from "Long Road Home"; also, poor Vinyl.

Given that the title means "Nothing New Under The Sun", I should think that Celestia is somehow involved in all of this; even though she doesn't consciously remember the "Kindness of Strangers" timeline right now, that might be subject to change.

Okay....we've got Monty trying very hard to do something misguided because he thinks he's saving the world and we've got at least one more person who remembers the 'Kindness of Strangers' timeline. We've also got Vinyl the Atoner trying very hard to take the hit for the whole blasted world alone. Thing is that she's not alone, though, is she?
Important thing to remember. Think back to what Luna said, the only people who remember are people with significant exposure to the artefact. Who do we know with significant exposure?

Just curious, what happened to Celestia (Sun)? You never did explain at the end of "And so it ended, and so it began again." Did she come back with her memories? is she ruling again with Luna? did Luna do the whole thing to Celestia with the alternate memories and such like Celestia did to Luna? It's driving me mad. I must know!

It will mostly be explained later. What I can tell you is this, they both rule together, only this time around, Luna forced herself to become Nightmare Moon so that Celestia would banish her to the moon, that way Twilight Sparkle and her friends would defeat her and set everything as it was supposed to be.
Luna sacrificed herself so that Twilight Sparkle could learn what it means to have friends.

Hmmmm......Not only do we get a bit of a reminder of where the ponies Willoughby befriended are, we also remind ourselves that not everyone would want to know what once was....or, for that matter, survive it. Imagine, for instance, sweet little Fluttershy remembering becoming Murdershy.
Oh, groovy; the poor misguided fool wants to undo all the good Emerald Sparkle did way back when and it'll probably be up to the grouping of ponies from "Long Road Home" to clean up the mess if he succeeds.

An awesome installment to the 'Bonds of Eternity' series. I think you did a great job bringing out the emotion from Vinyl Scratch and Benjamin Willoughby, can't say much about Luna. I loved Vinyl's two dream segments, especially the one with Octavia. It's almost like that fictional world was taunting her, reminding her of mistakes she'd already spent a lot of time regretting.
Intensity got ramped up with the conflict between Benny and Vinyl, so that was a really nice part. At least it ended happily. Now for Zecora and Surprise on the other hand...
I'm still waiting for them to seize power!!!
And Luna couldn't fly them out of the minefield because...?
