It had a very gritty feel to it that I have not seen in many stories before.
Not sure if I like it... But at least its Flutterdash.
It would have been nice to see a bit more between Fluttershy and RD, like them going home after a hard night's work etc. :

This was pretty cute! It had a bit of gritty feel to it, kind of a little on the edgier side, but the lighthearted sweetness really balanced it out so nicely. Plus I have that little headcanon myself, that Rainbow is protective of Fluttershy, while at the same time recognizing that she's a grown mare, can take care of herself, but she'll step in to help where it counts. Very nicely done!
The angle of her talking to...the reader, I suppose, was excellent. It really felt like it could've been anyone she was talking to, and it wasn't a flimsy, thinly veiled disguise. It felt a lot more like you're actually there, yet are still seeing the journey along with her. Very nicely done.
Ah, by the story title and the content, this is based off the Nickelback song! Extra points. X3 That was pretty cool.

The idea from the beginning was try to tell a story just using Rainbow's dialogue, but when Fluttershy showed up (and she couldn't just not show up!), no one ever says, "Oh, hey, I'm hugging you now" and so it did feel a bit clunky to me there at the end. But you're right. There totally should be a post-shift cuddle and discussion.

Thanks! It was kindof an experiment, actually. I've read many second-person stories where 'I' say something and a few times I've been like, "Yeah... I would never say that." I wondered if I could write a story without 'you' saying anything, with just the other characters' reactions. That way, 'you' could say it your way, while still advancing the story.
