There are a lot of ups and downs to being a musician. This is the story of how two musicians, one on top of the world, but still missing something. And the other at the bottom, not knowing what to do. find what there both looking for in a small bar in Manhattan.

Octavia, Vinyl, and Lyra are trying to put together a Hearth’s Warming Eve carol for all of Ponyville. Unfortunately, they get themselves into a musical disagreement, and end up turning on each other, each one thinking their style is superior to the others. Not even the town is free from the chaos, as they get in on the argument, and end up feeling upset themselves

Will Hearth's Warming Eve go on without a single carol, or will the three Ponyville musicians find it within themselves to compromise?

Doing so is more difficult than she expects, especially when a time-traveling Vinyl appears with super-big news from a dark, apocalyptic future. Things quickly get out of hoof.

Miss Octavia Melody is a famed cellist world wide. Her music has been known to charm even the wildest of dragons. With her fame and talent, Octavia has gained quite a number of fans.

Yet, there is one fan in particular who has caught her eyes. A handsome and charming stallion that intrigues her so. He might just be the one for her.

But her fan may be good to be true. He may be holding a dark secret, something that could tear her world apart and destroy everything she loves.

Rarity notices Spike spending less and less time with her and spending more and more time on his own, she was fine at first, but his frantic behavior begins to tip her off that he's not off on his own, he's off with somepony special, She Follows him around ponyville to discover just who is stealing his attention from her, The answer surprises her.

Vinyl Scratch notices her Octavia slowly playing less and less attention to her and spending more and more time out on her own, She was cool with it at the beginning, but her behavior and general anxiousness to leave at certain times tips her off that she's not off on he own, she's with somepony Special, she follows her around ponyville to discover who it is, the answer surprises her.

Family is a word Octavia has long linked to emotional pain. And it is that pain that drives her music to the heights it has. For music is both easing balm to soothe, but burning salt that irritates as well, for Octavia has never allowed herself to heal.
Now, a letter from her Mother threatens to reopen barely scabbed wounds... but will her friend Vinyl Scratch be the key to finally bring closure? Or will new wounds open before the old one can mend?

Vinyl Scratch sits backstage, getting ready for the biggest night of her career. This is the largest crowd she's ever performed for, and the grandest club she's ever performed at. Anypony would have a few jitters, especially since all this happened so fast. There's a lot of pressure on her to perform, and she's worked hard to prepare for tonight. When the moment comes, will she choke, or will the quiet support of a friend help DJ-P0N3 deliver her best show ever?

A note, this story is a continuation from one of my earlier works, What The Heart Wants. If you like one, I hope that you will enjoy the other, but no prior knowledge or reading is expected! The only prerequisite for this story is an appreciation of cartoon ponies.
