Everything seemed to be going better for Sunset Shimmer since getting blasted by the rainbow of light. She was learning about friendship and how to be a friend. Then Anon-A-Miss struck.

Thinking she had gone back to her old ways, Sunset's new friends walked away from her, leaving her alone.

Now Sunset cannot find neither the strength nor the will to get out of bed.

This is a first foray into attempting to tell a story from a first person perspective from Sunset's point of view.

This story is inspired in part by my own past struggles with depression.

The suicide/self harm tag is for thoughts of self harm, and Sunset's inability to eat or do anything other than lie in bed as she sinks deeper and deeper into depression.

A day of partying, celebration, ceremony.

Twilight is now the crowned Princess of Equestria, effective immediately.

Day quickly turned to night. Jokes were had, memorable ones to be referenced for years to come with 'snrk's and quiet giggling that just couldn't stop once it had started. Twilight watched the hours pass by from behind her eyes, silently counting down the seconds between jokes and the odd retelling of a story. The sun went down, the ceremony was over. Ponies stayed, either the crew, the other Princesses, her friends. The night got darker, the grounds were cleaned, most ponies left, the train was coming.

I've been feeling empty lately. Not sad, not happy, just... empty. I fake a smile around the girls. I don't know if they notice.

There is something that ends the emptiness. I don't like it, but I'd rather feel pain than nothing. So long as the girls don't notice. I don't need that kind of attention, or worry.

Sunset Shimmer is a smart girl; she knows staying in her apartment for weeks is unhealthy and recovering from a breakdown requires rejoining the outside world. It's been fifty years since the last of Twilight's closest friends passed away. The burden of immortality is a heavy one that can break even the strongest of wills. But Twilight swears she's fine. After all, as long as she remembers them, they'll always be with her. And she has a very good memory, so it's like her friends are still there with her.
