Starlight Glimmer was a latchkey filly whose father tried to smother her with affection as a foal. When she left home, she made a lot of mistakes. It wasn't until she went back home for a friendship mission that she realized something important: The meaning of unconditional love.

This story is a sequel to Truth Hurts

A slightly different take on my story “Truth Hurts”, in which Starlight and Sunburst go after their parents and overhear their conversation, learning some painful truths themselves.

Starlight's wedding Day comes, and she is nervous about it.

In a small town called Sire's Hollow, young unicorns go there to train every summer, like a magic summer camp.

Starlight Glimmer, born and raised there, meets a young unicorn name Sunburst on one of those summers. It's not quite love at first sight, but a bond is formed and a friendship is steadily cared for over the course of these summers. Sometimes, puppy love grows, maturing into something steady and true, if given the right care.

Starlight has quietly admired Sunset Shimmer's cousin ever since they were kids, but she’s having trouble finding the courage to tell him so.

It's a huge step they're taking, and it's going to be hard, and long, and exhausting. But it's going to be worth it in the end, to form a family with him, to be a mother—is like all the pieces of her life are finally falling into place and she's exactly where she needs to be.

Or, Sunburst and Starlight take the plunge and decide to start a family, through adoption.

Starlight Glimmer is finally ready to leave Sires Hollow behind, and begin life in the real world. But leaving home does not come without a bit of anxiety, despite all of the excitement. In the case of Firelight, the feeling is mutual.

Hearth's Warming has come again and Firelight has prepared the stupendously amazing, unquestionably-loving, full of heart and passion celebration for his Pretty-Witty Cinnamon-pop, Stellar Flare. If only they could have spent the hours coming up with new pet names, it would have been the best Hearth's Warming ever. It would have spectacular, if not for his own mess-up on the gift department for her.

How hard can it be to get the perfect surprise present for Stellar, anyway?

It's been a week since anyone in Sire's Hollow has seen Firelight, something that's incredibly worrisome considering recent events. Being the good neighbor that she is, Stellar Flare decides that he's been cooped up long enough, and stops by to make sure he's been caring for his daughter.

Turns out it's not the little filly she should be worried about.

Teenage Starlight Glimmer is a latchkey foal, her parents never at home, so she's raising herself. She has demigoddess-level magic, untreated mental illness, and (hidden in the back of her closet) a black grimoire, a vile necronomicon, a book of the most blasphemous spells only known to the worst eldritch abominations and Tirek-worshippers that have ever existed.

It’s not a good combination.

Starlight isn't a bad filly, really she's not, but she has problems. She tries to be good, not always successfully, but when Starlight's mother suffers yet another personal tragedy, and there's nothing Starlight can do to cheer mom up, the necronomicon offers Starlight some help from the most loathsome depths of space and time. And Starlight is always looking for the magical solution to her problems.

Can Starlight cover up her crimes before dawn?

Princess Twilight is throwing a party for her family, friends and their families too at the Castle of Friendship for Hearth's Warming. She and Pinkie have been planning this celebration for a number of moons; getting everypony on the guest list committed to being there. This will be the first time they will all be together under one roof with their families; a tradition Twilight would like very much to continue.
