Princess Luna must go on a diplomatic mission to the isolated city of Marem, and is tasked with choosing a suitable traveling partner to accompany her on the way. She does not choose the talented and magically-inclined Twilight Sparkle, nor the quick and loyal Rainbow Dash, nor even the strong and talented Applejack. Instead, she surprises everypony by taking Pinkie Pie with her and leaving without a word. Not even Celestia can guess the reasoning behind her sister's choice.

For whatever reason, Princess Luna and Pinkie Pie set off to find and negotiate an agreement with the mysterious community of unicorns located beyond the borders of Equestria. What they find there will impact not only Equestria's stance on foreign policy, but the very lives of the two ponies at the center of it all.

Yellow sun; wet, green planet; barren, dust-ball moon. When I saw the images from the surveyors, I knew instantly that this was the place where I'd set up my hermitage.

The captain told me there were intelligent creatures on the planet, but she doubted they would venture beyond the atmosphere for centuries. That meant I'd have the moon all to myself for six standard months before her ship came back to resupply me.

Six months of peace and contemplation with only the Increate and the sound of my heartsbeat to keep me company. No distractions, no neighbors, no mad aliens with their endless demands.

Solitude. Silence. Paradise.

Or so I thought.

Twilight Sparkle is tired. Tired of spending every other month saving Equestria. Tired of being the bearer of the Element of Magic. Tired of having no romantic prospects. As the world tries to find its footing in a universe much different then they expected, and as the strange phenomenon of "magic" begins to spread, everyone's having to make some accommodations-- Luna not least, with the Nightmare now an equal holder of her own body; not a great arrangement. But among all this, the attack onboard Hornet lurks, begging the question: Who was behind it? What do they want? And is it already too late to stop it?

After reading a story to his little sister, Princess Celestia's student Shining Armor believes that the legendary Mare in The Moon is about to return. After disregarding his warning, the princess sends her student to a small town called Ponyville to look over preparations for The Summer Sun Celebration. There, he, his sister Twilight Sparkle, and young dragon companion Spike, meet some strange mares and odd fillies. How will he survive a town full of crazy ponies? And what will he do when it turns out he was right?

The story is inspired by the Twiley chapter of Crisis of Infinite Twilights written by Defender2222.

How will she react to seeing the mare she’s destined to become? And how will Luna feel when confronted by her dark past?
