An interlude between Flammenwerfer's fics Metroid: Equis and its sequel, Metroid Equis II: Duality.

The war is over. Equis has survived the dual threats of Phazon and Space Pirate invasion. A new era of peace and prosperity covers the planet, as new trade routes between Equis and the Federation - centered in the country of Equestria - bring new technology and wealth to the nation, and the world.

But these thoughts are far from Fluttershy's mind. Her thoughts are focused on her friends - especially Samus, far distant from the world - her daily life, and her animals.

In particular, a new one... One she's never seen before. But she calls Fluttershy Mama, so of course she'll care for the little flying jellyfish, whatever she is.

What could go wrong?

Edit: It isn't required to read Metroid: Equis to enjoy this story...but it's highly recommended to read it anyway. It's a really good story.

Vinyl brings home a Godzilla movie, and watches it with Octavia. However, they both have very different takes on the film.

So after a few strange beings ended up in Equestria, and she got to know Shadow - the serene and lonely Hedgehog - she immediately began trying to make him happy. But so far, it hasn't been working. She's tried everything, but he just doesn't seem to be a sociable guy.

She has already learnt her lesson, thanks to Cranky Doodle. She can't just pester Shadow in an attempt to make him crack a grin. Instead, she has to find out what had turned him into such an introvert. So she decides to throw him a huge, blowout surprise party for him on Hearts and Hooves day.

But she has barely scratched the surface of Shadow's dark history. Little does she know of the things in store for her that particular Hearts and Hooves.

Applejack finds a strange visitor in her apple orchard one day, with even stranger stories to tell...

And with every action she takes those few seem to shrink in number. Worse still in an honest effort to seek help Discord brings up an old savagery once thought buried and forgotten.

Can Emerald Gleaner overcome the stress and pressures of openly running a nation and being held accountable for her actions? Or will the darkness of her past rise up to consume both her and all that she holds dear?
