It's a weekend at the Sparkle household, and young Spike wants to be Sibling Supreme. He may be too little to understand all of it, but he knows what he wants.

When Princess Twilight Sparkle and early-teen Spike move back to Canterlot, she suggests he consider living with her parents again. His foster family is enthusiastic, but the visit to his old home rekindles long-buried emotions in the little dragon.

Ever since he was a hatchling, an important question has burned within his belly. Now he's finally brave enough to ask.

Twilight Velvet has never really understood her daughter-in-law. Princess of Love? That seems a little shallow, even to a secret romance novelist. So when they end up sharing a train to the Crystal Empire for Hearth's Warming, things are a little bit awkward. When the journey is faced with disasters natural and supernatural, their fragile relationship will be tested to its breaking point.

It's been almost three years since Echo officially came out of hiding, adopted her daughter, and began the arduous task of becoming part of what was, to her, an alien culture. She's managed to secure financial stability, but now she struggles with things that are altogether foreign to her.

What does it mean to have friends? She knows it's a good thing, she knows it keeps her alive, but it seems like there's a measure of responsibility to it. More importantly, how can she be a good mother to her daughter if she doesn't understand something so fundamental to ponies as friendship?

Moving back to Ponyville presents its own challenges though, as she finds an unexpected surprise waiting for her.

Seeking respite, she turns to help in Canterlot, only to find that there is an even greater menace there, waiting to ruin her peaceful existence.

She really can't seem to get a break.

It's true, Celestia has a lot on her plate: the stewardship of Canterlot High School has recently fallen into her lap; her dear younger sister has recently started a job at the very same high school; and the details of her romantic life are... best left unsaid. Any sane individual wouldn't want to add a child to that mix, but those adorable bright blue eyes were irresistible.

Meeting your girlfriend's parents is horrible. Even in the best of situations it is an evening of judgement and trying your best to be as charming and inoffensive as you can possibly be. For Sunset Shimmer, it's made all the worse by the fact that she's a pony from an alternate universe, a former thief, and would-be conquerer of Equestria. Oh, and she turned into a winged she-demon that one time.

This shouldn't be...too awkward...right?
