The night that Cadance discovered the ghost of King Sombra lurking in the Crystal Palace should have been the worst of her life. Her greatest enemy is now lingering in her own home... and she knows that she's going to get to the bottom of this.

There hasn't been anything going on in the palace for a long time, and the tyrant's ghost will only prove to be a problem... won't it?

Pinkie Pie was coming over to Fluttershy's house to invite her to a party when she witnessed a shocking scene: Gilda trying to eat Fluttershy's tongue! She immediately knew she had to get her friends so they could stop that mean griffon before it was too late. After all, why else would Gilda have her beak in Fluttershy's mouth?

In a land far away in a castle age universe, Fluttershy is the Princess. She is to be wed, but, she, unfortunately, hates dislikes her suitor. For, she is hopelessly in love with one of her slaves: a Pink mare by the name of Pinkie Pie. She has no way of telling her the way she feels without being caught by her personal guard and being scolded for conversing with the slaves for reasons other than to boss them around.

But, an opportunity arises during the Festival of a New Cycle: to celebrate the kindom reigning successfully for yet another year. Fluttershy asks a question she thought was impossible to ask a slave...

"May I have this dance?"

It was the little things, really. Lightly brushing their hooves against each other when setting up traps, sharing their rations when food was low, the lingering gazes they'd exchange when there was free time. All of this eventually led Fluttershy to fall in love with Pinkie.

If only that weren't such a bad thing.

Princess Twilight Sparkle reflects on the evening of her coronation, and an unexpected occurrence in the palace gardens. Because while her life might be changing, maybe her new perspective isn't such a bad thing.
