It's not easy to go back to your life after a thousand years of insanity and exile. It's not easy for Luna to even leave her room. Life is pretty good for Twilight. Equestria is at peace and her relationship with Celestia makes every day a little brighter. Yet when she begins having strange, vivid dreams about a future where Celestia has been replaced by a mysterious Queen, Twilight can't help but wonder what those dreams mean for her own actual future.

Written for the 12th Twilestia contest.

Edited by the ever-excellent Jordanis.

Technically this is a sequel to Never Meaning to Send, Chocolate Fluff, and Stepping Off, but just in that they share the same setting, not that any of those are required reading to enjoy this.

Home to a wide variety of species and their various communities, the planet Equus is shared peacefully between prey and predators alike.

And, in her ever present benevolence, Princess Celestia has kept an open door policy on immigration into her, almost, Utopian country for years. So when a fumbling Anon suddenly appeared in Canterlot one day nobody panicked, he was peacefully taken to the Princess and explained his predicament to her. Understanding his situation, the Princess informed him that she would try her hardest to help him, but that it could also be awhile before there was any major progress in that effort.

So, with nothing better to do, the human applied for the reasonably easy Equestrian citizenship. Princess Celestia, hearing about this, decided to help Anon with his efforts and sent the human to Ponyville under her former pupil's charge, believing that it would be easier on him and to help the lonely human make some good friends along the way.

If only she knew how much suffering would come from that foolish decision.

Chocolate Swirl's job was to read those words, and what came after them. He had to make sure every last friendship letter was stored and ready to be retrieved. He knows so very much about Princess Twilight Sparkle, but that doesn't prepare him in any way for meeting her.

Trigger Warning: Contains scenes that may induce 'daww', 'squee' and possibly diabetic coma. You have been warned.

Twilight takes a walk in the woods near Canterlot to clear her mind, when a mischievous little phoenix starts dropping chestnut shells on her head. Quite a familiar mischievous little phoenix.

Somewhat inspired by the song "Evermore" by Alison Krauss, a story to perhaps make its reader smile.

Thanks go to Skywriter, GhostOfHeraclitus, and "Nettle" for pre-reading; and Ziom05 of deviantART for permission to use "Sun Springs" as the cover art.

Being an alicorn is wonderful... except when it isn't. There are plenty of things that put a damper on limitless vistas of possibility afforded by such a long life: Court, mortal needs and expectations, the occasional decade of ennui.

And the dreams, of course. Agelessness comes with its own special kind of dreaming. Celestia finds that her own "Inner Court" is a bit too literal, and it--and she--are troubled at the prospect of a near-immortal Twilight Sparkle.

If only she could articulate exactly why that was.

Part of the Monophysite Quartet, which also includes Celestia Isn't Real, Have You Considered My Servant, Twilight?, and The Esoteric Rites of Darkness. All four stories have a common origin point in an old story idea I called "Monophysite" and touch on who or what Celestia really is in some way. They are otherwise unrelated.

Princess Twilight Sparkle pays one of her rare visits to Canterlot since having moved to Ponyville. Visits that had become even more scarce since her coronation, and her former mentor is all the more excited about every moment she can spend with the young alicorn. The guards and servants seem to share her enthusiasm, though for some reason they seem awfully nervous as well.

As always, the two spend some quality time together, reminiscing about fond memories from when Twilight was a mere child under Celestia's tutelage. But the promising filly had grown a lot since then, and both are tempted to see how their relationship had matured.

WARNING: SMUT INVOLVED! If you must know in advance, it's some cuddling and a bit of almost-but-not-quite-kinky tickling. Story is a gift for, and was inspired by a friend, who will remain anonymous.
