When Twilight is awake, Celestia is her teacher, and she a faithful student. But when Twilight shuts her eyes, another mare approaches, who teaches her a very different lesson.
An experimental fic, written to play around with alternative perspectives. Be warned, ye who enter here.
Princess Celestia tires of constantly being surrounded by decorum, deference, and formality, and decides to take a day off from being Princess. But visiting Ponyville incognito is harder than she expects. Will she be able to fit in and make friends without blowing her cover?
Nine-year-old resident wimp Doldrum Whimper has a dream: to bulk up and become the buffest colt his town has ever seen, so he'll get some respect in school and no one will pick on him ever again. Except he's not actually bulking up from his current program.
But not to worry, the Rainbow Falls Traders Exchange has items for everyone's interests, and that includes the old strong stallion books that were all the rage back in the day. Why, there's tonnes of books about making winners out of wimps.
Only... one problem: he's only got enough for one trade, so he has to pick the right one.
This is going to be tricky.
Author's note: set in the same universe as Passiflora's Plight and Junior Flight Camp, taking place in between the events of those two. Reading either is not required for the purposes of this story, it just clarifies a few details.
After putting on the Element of Magic, Sunset Shimmer was shown just how much of a monster she really is. But that wasn't all the Elements did to her.
Sunset has now been forced to serve penance by answering any question truthfully and by doing anything asked of her, whether she wants to or not.
And she really doesn't want to.
Until all of the hatred in her heart is gone, Sunset is at the whim of her peers, unbeknownst to them of course. Can her new "friends" help her down the road to redemption?
If not, there's always that other Twilight Sparkle she keeps running into.

Twilight is almost used to being an alicorn now. She's accepted that unexpected change, and is even happy about it, most of the time. Her magical abilities have grown by leaps and bounds, and she's starting to enjoy the freedom offered by flight. While she can't imagine ever being as good as Rainbow Dash, anypony with reasonable standards would by now consider her quite competent in the air.
But despite her growing enthusiasm and confidence, there's something that she has neglected to deal with. Something that's bothered her at times ever since the transformation, but kept getting shuffled down her list of priorities. Fortunately, she knows just the pony to talk to for help, and she won't let nervousness and self-reliant rationalization hold her back anymore. The latest of Pinkie Pie's parties provides a perfect pretext for a conversation she should've had months ago.
If you're confused by the date listed on the chapter, that's just when I originally uploaded it for pre-reader viewing. Life got in the way and I didn't get around to hitting Submit until Feb. 7, 2016.
Upstart is excited. His mother has hired a unicorn for a party. It will be so delightful to see a unicorn performing magic. It's sure to be fun for the whole household!
Of course, it's just a little fun. She's not really a unicorn. After all, unicorns don't exist.
Spike's got three whole days to himself while Twilight is away at the Crystal Empire. Three whole days to be independent and free to do whatever he wants.
Or he would have, if a female dragon hadn't mistaken him for an abandoned hatchling. Now he's been snatched up and taken to her home to be "properly cared for."
Stuck in a cave with an overly-protective dragon intent on mothering him...maybe he should have just gone with Twilight.

Fluttershy remembers the kisses she'd shared over her lifetime, reflecting on the different circumstances and how she'd grown as a pony.
