Twilight Sparkle - magus, heroine and Princess - has learned of worlds overlapping Ungulatia in space and time. Though this has been a well known phenomenon, safely traveling to these other worlds has always eluded pony mages. But now - after years of research and careful experiments - she prepares herself for the most audacious of all experiments: stepping hoof on the surface of an alien world and returning safely! What wonders will she find once she walks through her magic portal?

This assumes that Equestria Girls never happened.

For five years, Rainbow has lived in that wan glow, while every day kills her a little bit more. The peace and happiness of her youth are but faded memories, and now she hardly recognizes the town she once called home. A hardened mare, Rainbow knows only pain and suffering...

...until one day, a reminder of what life used to be like lands at her hooves, and gives her something to live for once more.

They had it all wrong when it came to stars.

As far as the pony world was concerned, their sun was the only one of its kind, and the lights dotting the night were simply something else. However, when an alien pony arrives in Equestria, begging Princess Celestia to reignite the magic that powers her own star, this assumption was broken. Their sun was just one of many, the only difference being that not all stars have a Princess Celestia to power and control them, or a Princess Luna to drive away their warmth at night.

Unfortunately, Princess Celestia isn't even sure she can pull off such a feat, and to make matters worse: the alien's ship meant to take her to do the job has lost most of its crew, victims of a mysterious foe lingering in the shadows. Not to worry, though: nothing the Mane Six and a few other select ponies can't handle, right? Now if only they can figure out how to use a hyperdrive...

Inspired by the beautiful music of Hans Zimmer from the movie, well, Interstellar.

But another mask was torn away that day. A mask born for a thousand years. A mask created on one promise. A mask, that has become synonymous, fused, to its bearer.

A mask that when ripped off, causes Twilight, her friends and Luna to question everything they ever knew about the one pony, one very important pony.

At the Royal Wedding, the meaning of the phrase 'Princess Celestia' changes forever.

I didn't deserve such a glorified title, nor did I want it. I was a Guardian with a Ghost, Light, a few earthly possessions, and a purpose. A singular purpose, shared by all resurrected Guardians - to defend the Traveler and, by extension, the myriad life it allied itself with.

And I did my job by the book.

With my given task completed, the Darkness at bay and the Last City focusing on rebuilding, I departed. Aloof and utterly aimless, I traveled to other planets and tried in vain to ascertain my new purpose as I carved a swathe into scores of Fallen, Hive, and even the ancient Vex in the Vault of Glass.

As destiny would have it, the Speaker had ulterior plans for me at the Tower.
