After her battle with Starlight Glimmer, Twilight Sparkle has become interested in alternate universes. Having finally perfecting a spell that will allow her to traverse the boundaries of reality without damaging her own, she sets off to discover the wonders that await her in the multiverse.

Said wonders are considerably less wonderful than she expected.

While studying the Cutie Map, Twilight is accidentally whisked away to another alternate universe!

After spending much time investigating this new world, she cannot figure out just where the timelines diverged or what exactly is different compared to her own universe, but she does seem to be bumping into things more than usual.

But maybe not all alternate universes are so drastically different.

Maybe some are only slightly to the left.

Equestria is a magical land where hopes and dreams come true. Come in and you'll feel the magic of friendship inside you not only growing, but thriving...

Just make sure you don't forget to breathe.

Sometimes ruling a kingdom comes with difficult decisions, like who will lead once you're gone.

Celestia has someone in mind, she just needs to fire Luna first.

Nightmare Moon's return was not without incident and injury. Those that were chosen by the Elements suffered and were pained in the attempt to save Celestia's younger sister. While they succeeded, the trial left scars.

Princess Celestia sees this as everything going as planned and is ready to use the new Bearers for anything she needs taken care of.

Princess Luna thinks the group should be protected and only used when the situation is at it's most dire.

A compromise is made and Luna is allowed to form a team to deal with threats that do not require an orbital strike from a friendship canon. Provided she can find those willing.

With the memory of Nightmare Moon still fresh in every ponies mind, Luna is unable to find ponies who are willing to serve her readily.

So what is a Princess of the Night to do?

Not recruit ponies obviously.

In Canterlot's central shopping district, gift clocks are the newest Hearth’s Warming sensation: a present every day until the Eve itself, all in one convenient giant box! You can give them to other ponies! You can buy them for yourself and get a little surprise with every sunrise! They come in all sorts of themes! And as our eagerly shopping Bearers are about to discover, every last one has something in common.

Really, why does everypony keep presuming the ensuing riots are their fault?

And so some ponies are now aware that if they ever truly want to know what an animal is thinking, all they need to do is go to Ponyville, approach the cottage on the settled zone's border, and request a consultation -- whereupon the pegasus who lives there will typically do everything she can to turn them away.

After all, most ponies really don't want to know that their favorite companions are, at heart, complete morons.
