It's been several weeks since Smarty Pants began her life at Sweet Apple Acres. Even after the night she shared with Big Mac, he hasn't realised her true intentions. Seemingly, his definition of 'friend' is very different to her own. When Smarty catches wind of an upcoming competition, she hatches a plan in the hopes of finally making Big Mac understand her feelings. What can possibly go wrong?

One hundred years ago, ponykind discovered they were not native to their planet, Equus. For the past sixty years, they have been working on a spaceship to return them to their true homeworld. The young unicorn scientist Twilight Sparkle has provided the final piece of the puzzle needed to complete the gigantic mothership intended to lead their return, a technology to fuse pony and machine into a single organism. Refusing to allow anypony else to undergo the highly experimental procedure, she sacrifices herself to become Fleet Command. In just months, the Mothership will finally launch, and an age-old journey will begin.

Elsewhere aboard the ship, six ponies who would, in another universe, have been her close friends and companions prepare. Shining Armor is commanding the vessel's final assembly, including the permanent integration of his sister into its computational core. Applejack commands life support, keeping fifty thousand ponies alive in the depths of space. Fluttershy has just come aboard as the ship's lead zoologist, a renowned expert in animal behavior whose talents will, hopefully, extend to alien life. Rainbow Dash is a scout pilot, one of the ship's complement of defenders, as well as the tip of the ship's mission of exploration. Rarity is a master machinist, ensuring that the new and experimental technology the ship is working on always has a certain artistic flair. And Pinkie Pie is a pastry chef by day and entertainer by night, ensuring in her own inimitable way the ship's continued morale.

But none of them have the power to see what awaits them in their mission...

King Sombra’s dark influence was obliterated by the Crystal Heart, and the villain is well and truly dead. But when he attempts to steal the afterlife of an innocent victim, a human spirit is left hurtling towards Equestria, where this unfortunate soul is revived into the only vessel available: the reconstituted body of King Sombra himself.

Thus, a cheerfully oblivious alien is crammed into the form of the most evil and malicious being Equestria has ever known. Not that Shining Armor and Cadence know this, of course. As far as they are concerned, the King is back and he’s lost his fricking mind.

Twilight has a date! Maybe. Her date doesn’t know it’s a date, which makes it more like half of a date.

But before she can go on her date, she needs to retrieve her journal, which has become unstuck from time. Her journal, full of hopes and dreams and pleasures, none of which can ever be allowed to see the light of day.

It’s a story of love, science and time travel, and the lengths one pony will go to for all three. Paradoxes be damned; Twilight has a date!

Princess Celestia tires of constantly being surrounded by decorum, deference, and formality, and decides to take a day off from being Princess. But visiting Ponyville incognito is harder than she expects. Will she be able to fit in and make friends without blowing her cover?

Celestia and Luna have been sisters for more than a millennium. If only that made things easier!

Will poor housekeeping lead to the destruction of Equestria?

Having discovered the message left for her by Star Swirl the Bearded in the distant past, Twilight once again finds herself caught up in the middle of a struggle against forces far greater than herself. In order to even stand a chance she'll need to travel further and wider than she ever has, and forge some unlikely alliances with old enemies. All to bring down the powers that have manipulated and shaped her entire life, and retake control of her own future.
