Twilight Sparkle, personal student of Princess Celestia, is sent by her teacher to retrieve a very specific book from the Royal Library. The only problem is, she doesn't know what it's called or where to find it.

Fortunately for her, libraries are the most orderly, most mundane and certainly the safest of places one could possibly be. Or, so she thinks.

Twilight is about to find out how very strange the world of books can truly be.

Ah, social pressures. From dressing like others to keeping quiet about what you really think of things, just about all of us have something to fear from those we think to be our "peers", don't we? This is true for some ponies more than others, especially when fondness for one outside their circle may go a little beyond enjoying a common mare's music, or giving a royal listener the occasional friendly glance.

Stev is an outgoing family man, who loves his wife and his neighborhood. However, he's surprised to find out that the house next to his is being rented out to travellers on holiday... and who should show up but a graceful, elegant, magical pony looking for a nice relaxing trip to the country to unwind.

Like the good neighbour he is, Stev invites her to join him, his wife, and friends, to a barbeque. And like the gracious mare the tourist from Equestria is, she accepts.

But vacations don't last forever.

When Twilight left, Sunset forgot to ask how Princess Celestia was doing. Seeing as she will not get an answer, the former student to the Solar Goddess attempts to move on and live life as a student to Princess Twilight.

One night, while Sunset drifts further into her dreams, she is visited by none other than the guardian of dreams: Princess Luna of Everfree. This will only end one way, and that way is completely opposite of what Sunset had been expecting. Takes place directly after Rainbow Rocks.

At the end of a long day of work, Sweetie Belle learns that some gentlestallions still know how to treat mares right.

In a matriarchal society such as Equestria, sometimes the social position of a stallion can be difficult.

Big Macintosh has things going fairly well for himself. He does his share of the work at Sweet Apple Acres and helps to support his family along with his sister.

But Granny Smith has been talking lately. She thinks an eligible stallion such as himself should find a well-to-do mare and get married before he's too old. And now she's gotten an idea: why doesn't Applejack introduce him to her friends?

On the eve of another world ending crisis Princess Celestia has complete control of the situation. Every detail has been accounted for, every eventuality anticipated. The Elements of Harmony gathered and ready to save the day and even an important side project set up. Yet after planning so carefully there are still a few things that even Celestia couldn't anticipate or prepare herself for.
