Canterlot's Guard is by far the most disciplined outfit in Equestria. Or at least it seems that way. If so, is that discipline worth the cost? After the royal wedding, two guards watch over the empty altar and determine an answer for themselves.

Everything had went well, for better or worse. Ember and Thorax managed to get along, much to Spike's relief. They even seemed to almost touch base on a personal level, but it was then that Spike felt his gut knot up. He felt a hint of possessiveness, a slight sliver of anger... Even Spike knew it was jealousy, but what he couldn't figure out is why? They were being friendly... too friendly? Spike takes on an adventure of self-discovery, one that'll leave Spike forever changed... for better or worse.

Spike has faced many dangers as the right-hand dragon of Twilight Sparkle. He's been by her side from battling The Lord of Chaos through her marriage to Queen Chrysalis and beyond. What kind of danger could he possibly face when he gets ready to ask his friend Thorax if their friendship could become something more? The kind he might least expect!

Following the defeat of Queen Chrysalis, the princesses of Equestria seek to build a relationship with newly-crowned King Thorax and forge an alliance between ponies and changelings that has never been seen before.

While the changelings adjust to the broad, sympathetic intricacies of shared love magic, Thorax works to embrace his role as the hive's new patriarch, demonstrating a benevolent rule far different from his predecessor. Through sleeping and resting together in groups, he aims to cultivate harmony and empathy in a once turbulent hive and find a place for himself within it at last.

With the help of Equestrian royalty, a few good friends, and his brooding older brother, Thorax must now champion the idea of peaceful changelings in Equestria and show the world that his kind can change more than just their looks.
