Vinyl Scratch is a connoisseur of music (and mares). She has a great job as a DJ, and fun co workers. But one day, she meets a talented Earth pony named Octavia, who intrigues her in more ways than one. And so, she explores her interest with this pony; she is not one to ignore her curiosity.

Even after Trey and Fluttershy marry, some things are still unknown. Trey, luckily, has kept a diary of his life previous to coming to Ponyville, all the way through the current day. What sort of thought processes has Trey had? What sort of events have occurred since the ending of Flutterheart? Only time will tell.

Octavia has always been prim and proper, but one left out detail on a note leads the mare on an adventure into the depths of romance. (Note, some references will be made to my current work Trixie's Redemption, so reading the first few chapters of that story will help you understand a few references).

Octavia Concerto, the prized daughter of the rich and illustrious family of musicians, knows a life filled with luxury, fame, and music. She also knows loneliness, and the feeling of imprisonment brought on by her structured and sheltered life and the guiding hand of her proud and controlling father, whose hatred for and constant need to surpass all other musicians has made him cold and distant.

Lyra Heartstrings lives a wild and free life surrounded by crazy friends, a caring family, and more riches than Fancy Pants could even dream of. She walks the streets of Canterlot as if she owns them- and as a member of Princess Celestia's favorite orchestra, she has good reason to. The only problems in her carefree life are her family's crooked and allegedly violent rivals, the Concertos.

However, one stormy evening, these two wildly different and inherently opposed mares are thrown together by fate, and set off a chain of events that will change the face of Canterlot forever.

My first fan fiction, this story is a fresh take on the fairly common Vinyl x Octavia story. It starts out narrating their lives as fillies, having met in grade school, and follows them up to adulthood showing their love of music and each other blossom as time goes on.
