Hearth's Warming is a time for friends and family to come together, celebrate harmony, and welcome the new year. Nyx is looking forward to just this as she rides the train to Canterlot with Spike and Twilight. She's going to meet her extended family for the first time and wants nothing more than to make a good impression. Yet, the sheen of the holidays can't hide the trouble caused by meddling grandparents, relentless reporters, and a paranoid uncle.

Side-story to Past Sins - Spike almost lost Twilight to a hangmare's noose, but now Twilight is safe and Nyx is a filly again. Normal life is returning. Still, Spike can't ignore the fact that Nyx just isn't the same as he remembers her. Her temper is more volatile, and, when she gets angry, all he can see is the rage-driven Nightmare Moon of legend.

And thus Spike has to wonder: Is Nyx truly reformed, or is she one bad tantrum away from calling herself Nightmare Moon again?

This is the order the five senses develop in for foals as they rest, cradled in the warm safety of a mother’s womb. But for one, her womb was a thorn bush in the dark of night. For one, the safety and warmth that should have carried her into the world was replaced with pain and cold.

These are Nyx's first hours.

On the one thousandth anniversary of her greatest failure, Empress Luna reflects on the empire she has built. Never has the world been more unified or at peace and it owes it to her Immortal Highness, Empress Luna. The Equus Empire is a testament to the love and adoration her subjects give her.

Yet, in her heart she holds a deep pain and feels that she truly doesn't deserve any of it.

Over a year ago, myself and four other FiMFiction authors started our own Ponyfinder campaign. The campaign lasted over a year, and followed the adventures of five brave little ponies, as they attempted to win fortune and glory in the eyes of their princess. Traveling across all of Equestria, into distant griffon lands, and through the realm of dreams itself, they struggle to prove themselves and win a place in the world.

Nine hundred years before Nightmare Moon's return, Equestria is a very different place. Old tensions between the three races still linger, and Celestia's peace is still unproven. It is a more brutal era, and one in which ponies find it hard to see how friendship and magic can prevail.

Rarity runs Pony Vale's premiere – and only – radio show, and sees informing her listeners of the town's daily happenings as her highest priority, be it giving updates on the town's night howler infestation, discussing the latest advances from the secret lab miles under the town, or just translating the town council's meeting minutes into something the average mind can comprehend.

But now, the town news has gotten odd: the sun refused to rise, strange(r) lights have been seen in the sky, a unicorn with perfect mane and teeth has come to town, and some ponies are even claiming that magic exists. At least she has the town council to help her make sure she reports the town news correctly.

Nopony ever said being a voice on the radio was easy.

A strange mare arrives in Twilight’s library, claiming to be her future self—here to stop a terrible plague. But Twilight worries that this stranger’s bold claims may hide something more sinister.
