Trixie has changed a lot- instead of trying to scam yet another pony, she's in her apartment. Bored while it rains. To keep herself from dying of boredom, she begins thinking about her marefriend.

Everything went wrong after Lightning Dust's little stunt. Spitfire is blamed for not seeing how reckless Lightning was and not stopping her. She is fired from the Wonderbolts.

Now she spends her nights drinking her problems away. One night, however, she is joined by a familiar face.

At the request of Twilight Sparkle, Spike goes on a hunt to find answers about the events that led up to the incident that left Rainbow Dash blind.

Meanwhile, Twilight and friends continue following the trail Trixie left behind on her way north. By a combination of her letters, and the ponies they meet, they follow in her hoofsteps, discovering a number of surprising secrets along the way.
