Scootaloo has always had fun with the class assignments that Cheerilee gives her, and today, she is partnered with another of her classmates to see it through. However, as they work together, Scootaloo learns that her partner in this might not find this work as easy as she does.

Now, Flash will find himself in a place he never expected, in a new land that will defy everything he knows.

For Flash Sentry, it was reality that he didn't even want to face, and eventually, he reaches a point where he can no longer run from it. Fortunately, a certain pretty, purple, bespectacled magical girl ends up reaching out to him in his time of need. This is their story.

Locomotion, a unicorn colt who used to live near Trottingham, is a keen railway enthusiast, and spends most of his time tending to the engines at Ponyville Sheds. One day, shortly after his latest cleaning turn, he is approached by a famous filmmaker from Canterlot who offers him the lead role in his latest production, a role that he eagerly takes up.

But while he and his friends, including the Cutie Mark Crusaders, are taking part in the film, strange goings-on have been hampering the production. Can Locomotion and his co-stars solve the mysteries and save the movie, or is his first appearance on the big screen going to be his last?

Starswirl's new spell should be fairly straightforward. Combine their powers, blast the Pony of Shadows, and send him into limbo, with the Pillars unscratched and free to return to their lives, their quest finally complete.

He claims it's ready, simple, and foolproof. Though a private conversation with Magnus has told him otherwise. Prototype spells are never that simple... any kind of action is a risk.

But it will be fine. Surely.

Nevertheless, before the climactic confrontation, Flash Magnus needs to make one more visit, to the pony who matters most to him...
