Octavia Melody and Vinyl Scratch are a lovely Manehatten couple and have been together for nearly a year and a half. They are happy and in love, the only problem is Octavia is a changeling. Octavia has been on the run for a long time and just when things are going there best it looks like her past has finally caught up with her. Just yesterday her only problem was her noisy neighbors Lyra and Bon Bon. Kind of based off of the song "The Sameling" with amazing cover art by Gift-Wrap on DeviantArt.com I give you Duel Melody.

Vinyl goes to band camp. She meets Octavia, a shy girl. She puts out the effort to get Octavia to talk to her, and a fast friendship forms. After spending a summer together, one of them may be falling in love.

Vinyl Scratch and Lyra Heartstrings are vampires, creatures of the night whose civilization has lived in humanity's shadow for thousands of years. They are self-sufficient and prideful, only venturing out of their hidden cities to replenish their stock of blood. But ties to past lives are not so easily severed.

When Lyra catches wind of supernatural happenings in her hometown of Canterlot, she and Vinyl take it upon themselves to investigate the cause.

When Doctor Whooves travels to Canterlot in the TARDIS and sees Octavia acting like a DJ, the Doctor realises that he mixed up the Fragments of Symphony! Can he return his friends to normal in time for the big event? To do so, he'll have to change Derpy back from cellist to muffin-chef/mailmare, Lyra from muffin-chef/mailmare to lyrist, Bon Bon from lyrist to confectioner, Vinyl from confectioner to DJ P0N3, and Octavia from DJ T4V3 to cellist. Octavia Melody is in a bit of a spot. Life on the Manehattan Space Station isn't easy for most ponies to begin with, but when your BitCard balance is zeroed out and you're living meal to meal? It starts to feel like things couldn't get much worse.

The problem is that that sort of thinking only invites more trouble.

When Octavia suddenly finds herself stuck in the middle of a plot that could destroy the whole of the Grand Equestrian Empire, the source of her next meal is going to be the least of her concerns. Now she must find the Elements of Harmony, unravel the secrets of the Empire, save the universe, and, just maybe, find a way to make some friends.

With their new job as COBRA Troopers finally starting to give them some vague semblance of a normal life back, it sure would be a pity if Vinyl and Octavia found themselves hurled through random time periods in Equestria, wouldn't it?

Being a complete introvert, Octavia is very surprised when a strange looking girl in her music class calls her a peculiar nickname. Her name is Vinyl Scratch, and for some reason, she acts like Octavia is her best friend! Who in the world is this girl???
