  • Intro to Ponies 26 stories These are good even if you know little more about ponies than that some friends turned Nightmare Moon back into Princess Luna with magic friendship beams.

  • ❤ Pony Prose Perfection 34 stories Because even my Highly Recommended wasn't selective enough for these gems (<3% of stories I enjoy make it onto this list). These deserve more stars than I can reasonably give.

  • Pony Prose Imperfection 2 stories Would be in Pony Prose Perfection were it not for that one pesky serious flaw. In the case of both stories presently listed, that's entirely contained in the (skippable) epilogue.

  • ⁂ Highly Recommended 168 stories Stories I greatly enjoyed, that grab me and don't let go. (Five stars, basically.)

  • Flawed Gems 20 stories Would be in Highly Recommended were it not for that one pesky serious flaw (usually favorable treatment of immorality).

  • ⋆⋆⋆⋆ Recommended 1122 stories Not merely enjoyable, but quite excellent. (Four stars and up, if you will.)

  • Missing Piece 110 stories Would be in Recommended were it not for that one pesky serious flaw (usually favorable treatment of immorality).

  • Pick-Me-Up 112 stories To cheer the reader quickly and raise their spirits. Usually also in Recommended or up, but not always.

  • ⋆⋆⋆ Nice 2473 stories - 414 unread chapters The usual list of stories I enjoyed. (In essence, three stars and up.)

  • Cracked Glass 143 stories Would be listed in Nice were it not for that one pesky fatal flaw (usually favorable treatment of immorality).

  • Bloom Filter Trifecta 0 stories Stories in this bookshelf have gone beyond the impossible by including an algorithm with a name that puns off the main character's name and story title.

  • Proofread 1 stories Stories that I've worked on as a proofreader.

It was 1825, and it's been a year since Ludwig van Beethoven had premiered his Ninth Symphony. One evening as he did his daily walks in the Austrian countryside, a surprise storm forced the composer back into his cheap, rented room. Where a mysterious shadow whisked him away to Equestria, taking everything, including his music along with him.

Holding Ludwig captive against his will, the shadow tells him that if he ever hopes to see all he knows and loves in Vienna, he would have to give him something in exchange. Something priceless that only he could give. The shadow demands that he'll give Beethoven one year to compose his Tenth Symphony, or give up all hope that he will ever return home.

When I first met Princess Twilight, she was confused, lost. Adrift in an alien world. I thought of her as a rich eccentric, certainly a foreigner. I humored her as much as I believed her, really. Even when she dragged me to the very ends of the world in her mad quest for a mythic well, I really did it all for her. I figured it would help her find some closure, and we could go home.

I was right, in a way.

Based roughly on the game 80 Days.

Princess Luna decides that risking the lives of the Elements of Harmony time and time again is hardly the most sensible or strategic response to the threats Equestria faces, leading her to seek an alternative solution, one which will ensure Equestria's protection in a more efficient manner.

The vagrants and outcasts of Equestria then find themselves presented with a proposition, one which could ensure their futures and prosperity... Assuming they survive the tasks requested of them that is.

Beneath his black, chitinous exterior, cold blue eyes, and fang-toothed grin, Thorax holds a dark secret. He knows better than anyone that the best way to hide a changeling is with another changeling, but that's pointless, right? He's already a changeling.

There's a lot of things about Cadance and Shining Armor that never quite made sense: their sudden appearance before the Royal Wedding; their suspiciously convenient suitability as rulers of the Crystal Empire; their oddly abbreviated pregnancy; and even their quick change of heart after Spike asked them to forgive Thorax.

Twilight Sparkle knows exactly how deep that conspiracy goes — she was there in the beginning, when her hive's queen created Shining. And she wasn't happy about it.

Rated 'Worth Reading' by Titanium Dragon! "If [you like] the idea of a story which hints at a greater conspiracy behind the scenes which explains some of the plot holes we see in the series, you’ll likely enjoy this."
