>>2391587 My rule for multi-chapter stories is that I don't add them to my favorites until they are finished. Sometimes the first few chapters can be good, but then later chapters can make the story feel like a waste of time. This came into play on several occasions and I've removed the stories from my favorites. On two occasions, I even downvoted the stories, which per my personal rule about only giving constructive criticism, required me to contact the authors, either in PM or in a comment on their story, to explain why I disliked it. I take disliking and favoriting more seriously than I probably should, but it's the Golden Rule - that's the level of respect I'd like to receive from others.

Long story short, keeping my favorites list somewhat exclusive is by design. Stories there are not ones that I simply read. They did something to earn their spot. They are not the be-all, end-all - that's my Top 10 - but anything in my favorites is something that I would be willing to recommend to others. Your story included.

For Operation: Starburst, I was mostly waiting for it to get to the end. It had earned its spot a while ago. I'll leave my final thoughts over in the comment section of the story.

Thanks for adding Operation: Starburst to your favorites. It feels extra special that you decided to do that.

>>2388119 I'm around 2 kyu. I mostly play in person at my local go club. My rank on KGS peaked at 1 dan and was stable at 1 kyu when I played online regularly, but my current rank on OGS for correspondence games is 4 kyu. I'm probably somewhere in between. I wasn't as strong when I wrote The Mark of Kosumi and I notice some ideas presented there that could be better.

High SDK is nothing to be ashamed of. Most of the regulars at our go club are 6-10 kyu. It's still enough that no one without practice could ever beat you and you'll find players who you can give 9 stones to and then still learn a ton from those you can take 9 stones from. If I can ever find a 7 dan or pro who wants to play me, I'd love to be given 9 stones and lose. I could learn so much.

Go player.  Huh!  That's fairly rare around these parts.  Are you ranked at all/do any online play?  (It's been a few years since I really played, myself, and I was never terribly serious about it, but that's the only good way to ask what sort of level you play at.  I'm probably in high single-digit kyu range, nothing to brag about.)
