That's one of the things in the story I've been batting back and forth in my mind for about 6 months before deciding to post it after finding FIMfiction.

"Boys!" (headshake) is one of those typical girl exclamations when they try to shrug off the mysteries of strange male behavior, and it doesnt' feel like it has the same silly punch when I swapped in "Colts!" (headshake).
At least I found canon moments in-show to help me decide, where the mane 6 will often call to the rest of their group "Girls! Hurry!" and "Guys! Come on!", and in "Best Night Ever" Rarity walks up to the group of stallions hanging out ":Would you boys mind pulling our carriage to the ball tonight?"
lol i read a lot of fics with the word boys on them its a minor thing really not much of problem like making it hard to understand
