One of the perks of having a home on the outskirts of Maretime Bay are the nearby trails I get to myself to jog through. Looks like I'll be sharing them today.

Really good use of Hitch, here. Nice and sweet.

Lovely little HiE slice of life, with the added novelty of G5. Hitch is a good choice for pony-human relations liaison. Thank you for this, and best of luck in the judging.

I really made the right decision getting a home out here than in town. Easily the best trails I've ever ran on either here or back on Earth. With ferns aplenty, mossy tree trunks surrounding me, and the dirt moist, but firm beneath my feet, the conditions are perfect for another splendid outdoor jog.

aww, really making the most of what Equestria has to offer, that is nice!

We glance to each other, Hitch clearly impressed I've been able to stay neck and neck, even after having ran as much as I have this morning already.

hehe, if there's one thing humans are decent at, it's endurance running

I'd never notice this outside the forest, and I'd easily miss this staying on the trail. Even on a world of talking ponies and magic, even the "natural" stuff can't cease to amaze me.

aww, yeah! giant redwoods in real life are one of the few things that seem just a little bit otherworldly enough to fit right in among the ponies

The second one lands on my shoulder and shows no hesitation in bouncing near my jaw and rubbing its body against it. It almost made me forget that Hitch just so cooly called me his friend like that.

aww, adorable!

"Wow." The second one comes up on my finger beside its companion, looking just as inquisitively at me. "If you guys want to stop by, I'll treat you to some millet. How's that sound?"

The birds tweet loudly and excitedly, accepting my proposal.

i have to admit, much more than the talking ponies, the fact that there are just these wild animals that are clearly sapient and just unable to communicate in the same language would really throw me for a loop living in this world! so many implications...

but ignoring those implications, it sure does make the world a lot more whimsical and fun! like a Disney movie, or something

The two of us keep our active speeds up, appreciating both each others company and the perfect conditions of the dirt beneath us.

aww! there's something neatly full-circle about this; a human in Equestria discovering the joys of running with a horse

love this being one of the very first HiE stories to take place in G5! Hitch takes Fluttershy's role as speaker to the animals in the canon, of course, but that also means he is a natural pick to be the bridge between the completely novel species of human and the up-until-very-recently extremely xenophobic pony civilization, and this was a lovely illustration of that. thank you for it!
