I did it that way for a couple reasons, but the main explanation is simply this: limited POV.
Adopt her?! Okay, I can safely say THAT caught me by surprise!! Not a bad opening to the story so far.
As much as I'm really starting to enjoy this story, i hope we can see more of how just change to Ranma has effected BOTH sides of him. Specifically his male half and the Nerimans in general. Not to mention I wanna see more of Sunset! Sunset Shimmer is my favorite!

Well, I would give it a few months instead of making such a hasty claim, but you're not wrong. I certainly hope this isn't the end of what looks to be an entertaining story of fluff and self-discovery.

Because she has a cloud mane instead, due to a combination of high magic generation (which at extreme levels can cause mane transformation) and being part pegasus (which lowers the threshold for mane transformation).
I'm interested to see where this goes, but I'm not really getting any 'Ranma' ya'know? I can chock the lack so far to shock or similar issues, but I hope to see a more lively Ranma.

Yeah, that's part of why I was reluctant to publish at chapter four, because I wanted to reach the point where Ranma completely shakes off the sulking and brooding.

This really reminds me of a fanfiction.net ranma story where ranma and his female self split with the two keeping their personalities, it followed the female ranmas side of the story with her dealing with being the male ranmas "curse"
This was a fairly interesting story, it sets up some promising future storylines so I'd love to read more. My biggest problem is with Ranma still being called him and he, I know in her own mind she's still male and would prefer being referred to as such but I find it off putting but I prefer it when the writers use the current body's gender pronouns as the constant he and him makes me forget ranma is stuck in a female body.

It's entirely possible that Ranma is the Japanese equivalent of Crazy horse. Actual meanings change with the characters used.
I wonder if Ranma would be familiar with the anime Space Pirate Harlock. If so Ranma might have mixed feelings.

Well this was nice, I enjoy seeing Ranma so nonplussed around people that geniunly want nothing but the best for him.
